Reasons To Be Thankful Part 61

Reasons To Be Thankful Part 61

Thank you, Jesus!

It’s done

One more trip around the sun!

Seems like life has just begun

But here we go

Reasons to be thankful, part sixty-one

Well, I reckon it appears

I’m up there in the years

I am told

Some would call me old

Perhaps I’m old then

But then again still too young for heaven

My gentle God

I would like to get my three score and ten

And if I could implore

A few more

Thanx for the sunshine, for your hand divine, for family church and blood, for a path through the mud, for the help in doubt, in hard times a way out, for gentle sleep, for the promises only you could keep, for the roof over my head, for kind words said, for every breath of air, for you answering prayer, for the strength in the fight, for the glory of the light, for saving my soul, for reaching my goal, for a sound mind, for people being kind, for the food to devour, for each and every hour, for the rain divine, for the sunshine, for making each day a new start, for the love you put in my heart, for every tick of the clock, for the steadfastness of the Rock, for the blood shed on the cross, for the gospel seeds I toss, for my ministry, for the truth hidden in history, for this very day, for hearing the words I pray, for your holy spirit, for the evil that I don’t have to fear it, for the unnumerable blessings so many unknown, that I have grown, that with utmost certainty that this list would go on and on into eternity…

One more thing I ask of you

May I please see sixty-two

In Memory Of Zyon Brooks

In Memory Of Zyon Brooks (2002-2021)

Zyon is a mountain never washed to the Sea

Zyon is memory wildly free

Laughter after the tragedy

Embracing the racing memory

And there is no sense and reason

I would accuse God of treason

But that would not serve the cause

Or help at all

Adam too had a tremendous fall

Where do we go from here?

When cheeks moisten with fresh tears?

And the pale ghost of agony appears

On the day he turns thirty?

Will the dagger hurt me? (I know it will, still)

The sin of what could have been

I reflect in all the honesty I can embrace

A bike rolling strolling down the road in a race

Children are children even at nineteen

Where have we been?

In Memory of Zyon Brooks

Read it now in the history books

A tragedy that could have been adverted?

What purpose has it served?

Beyond the fact that we are aware

That so many care

With kind word or prayer

Or even a shot of bliss

In a poem such as this

For I am facing the long goodbye

No stranger to tears a human being will cry

The bell tolls we’ve heard that line

But the sound is different when you claim it as mine

I hope Zyon your wings are strong enough now

To fly and even soar

Wherever you are there is no poverty, starvation or war

We’ll see you on the other side somehow

As gentle saints in remembrance take a bow

What is done is done

Farewell our beloved son

There is so much left to say

But that is left for another day

Black Star

 Black Star

Marcus Garvey is wandering the universe

There is a Black Star

Radiating with rhythmic verse

Jimi Hendrix playing a burning electric guitar

With his raw white teeth

While Sekhmet is rousing from her dark domain underneath

And it will take but a single anomaly

To permanently alter our reality

As we reach that fateful final hour

See the shifting of the power

For Satanic weapons shall not prevail

The ‘Evil Empire’ will fail

For good hearted people from all the Earth

Will collectively give birth

Turning the page

To a righteous age

You know who you are

Black Star

You don’t need years of college

To attain reasoning and knowledge

As the sculptor shapes the mountain

The man whose throat is dry

Drinks from the crystal pure fountain

In heights on high

Remember we only live until we die

And we shall succeed if we but try

So listen near and far

Black Star

Don’t you know

An idea is the deadliest foe

Invincible as the soul

So to those in control

You shall see in the end

There is much more than you can comprehend

So take my hand as we sail the cosmic waves

Jesus saves

The battle of the cross was not a loss

Into the black hole all the Earth’s money I toss

Soon we’ll be firing the boss

I whistle as I sharpen the guillotine

I think you know what I mean

There are lines to read between

Do you find this bizarre?

Black Star

Marlene

Marlene

Hey Marlene heaven is no longer a dream

And the journey ain’t what it seems

The old rugged cross lies at your feet

The struggle now sensationally sweet

Gone are the turmoil, pains, and strife

In the Promised Land

You come to understand

The true meaning of life

Not a worry, not a hurry, not a care

You can personally deliver every prayer

Forever seventeen

In a place where numbers mean

Nothing

Infinite days to give God praise

Infinite hours to enjoy the reward

Reclining, laughing at the table of the Lord

Your cup overflowing

Intimately knowing the bliss of righteousness

Infinite seconds to simply enjoy

A perfect peace none can destroy

Walk around the streets of gold

See wonders too marvelous to behold

Take your beloved Eddie by the hand

Slow dance to the music of the angel band

Life itself is at your command

In heaven there is love at every bend

In heaven there are no strangers

In heaven there are no dangers

In heaven everyone is a friend

In heaven you are never alone

And God is the Light upon the throne

Heaven is an eternal joy which none can destroy

In heaven we are free

Heaven is beyond eternity

A place of grace where all the Faithful will be

So long and take care

We hope to see you there

Wanka Tanka

Wanka Tanka

You don’t know my name but you can call me ‘Sir’

I’m the man who can stop all this war

I’ve been this way a time or three before

This is my last time

This is my last rhyme

So I’ll be racking up the score

You only see my shadow

They call me a ghost

They call me a spirit

Some dare say I’m a lie

But they’ll repent once they die

I Am swinging a mighty axe

Babylon shall fall

Along with Mister Trump

And all that will remain is the stump

I cry to the Lakota, Nakota, Dakota

To the Nez Perce

To the Apachie, Hopi and all the rest

I have many things to say

My people are the best

What we have forgotten from yesterday

We will relearn in yet a better way

The boats are loaded get your tickets to Europe

Somehow someway you’ll cope

We don’t want your demonic money

Your schools, your rules, your pope

These are fighting words I declare

These are fighting words say a prayer

When will God intervene?

Check out the scene

Do you desire a nuclear kiss?

An endless apocalypse?

Such are the wages of sin

When the missiles are launched nobody will win

Take a breath, relax

Hear the melody of a lonesome sax

We’re taking our lands back

You can resist

But it’ll be no contest

Long After the Gold Rush

Long After the Gold Rush

Miracles beyond conception coming true

Fulfilling more then we ever knew

Inca Queen in glory, smiling in dance

God gave us a second chance

We came in rags and tatters

It is the heart that matters

Given more then we could conceive

Beyond blessing to believe

The clown in a permanent smile

And we laughed for a while

We were headed for a new home

And we rejoiced in style

We were headed for a new home

Something we have never known

I was sitting on a pure golden throne

The sun is the moon in disguise

I was coping hoping for demotion

When I understood reality is full of lies

There was an angel whispering in my ear

Heaven it was never so near

And my dream so crystal clear

I was thinking about what a friend had said

He was not a friend at all

I was thinking about what a friend had said

So many issues I could not recall

I thought on the days of our landing

How joy exalted our spirit so high

We thought we had understanding

And a love and wisdom none could deny

Life itself kissed us in romance

God gave us a second chance

We came in rags and tatters

It is the heart that matters

Given more then we could conceive

Beyond blessings to believe

And we cried for a while

Living in our brand new home

It was then we became aware

We couldn’t do it here if we didn’t do it there

Such sorrow had never been known

The tears washed the makeup off the clown’s face

We looked and it was not the look of grace

When can we really go home?

Dating In The 20th Century

 Dating In The 20th Century

Love is a four letter word and so shall it be

Face to face living in a place of reality

I held your hand and baby that was the start

I came to understand the beauty of your heart

Back in the days when America was free

We were dating in the twentieth century

It was me and you and you and me

We were dating in the twentieth century

Tripping on modernization in chaotic times

Clever poets were ever searching for better rhymes

Darling tell me one and one do they make two

Darling tell me can you make all my dreams come true

Back in the days when America was free

We were dating in the twentieth century

It was me and you and you and me

We were dating in the twentieth century

Driving the long way home for a romantic view

Whispering sweet nothings the way that lovers do

I was seeking some pie in the sky fantasy

Dreaming of the ideal trying to feel the real me

Back in the days when America was free

We were dating in the twentieth century

It was me and you and you and me

We were dating in the twentieth century

I had visions of you in radiant naked glory

In deepest sin we told the blatant story

True lovers the truth discovers the very soul

Singing the blues in the age of rock and roll

Music on the radio we were singing along

Words of the prophets they were making us strong

Two voices united in the melody of the few

The voices united baby it was me and you

Back in the days when America was free

We were dating in the twentieth century

It was me and you and you and me

We were dating in the twentieth century

Tricky Traci

 Tricky Traci

Leering haunted eyes

Definition of sin

More then they wanted

Skin, skin, skin

Hey sweet heart all star of the bachelor’s night

Every elegant inch stunningly dynamite

Licking luscious lips seductively seducing grin

Mini, mini skirt, inviting one and all in

Shirt tight soon to be tossed away

Kit Kat Tiger, roaring, soaring in play

Lights, camera, satisfaction

More, more, more, consume each and every fraction

Triple X rated

Applauded celebrated

Groan and Moan

Focus on alone

Intimate desire

Fornicating fire

Why does the West wind blow?

From whence do waters come?

Life is but a show?

Only to some

I know a secret little girl

I can tell a plastic pearl

Hurt turns a tornado in a twirl

Not even raw cocaine

Could ease your pain

Tempted twisted torn

Pierced by porn

See the mirror

Mascara, lipstick, glow, is it clearer?

Maybe you kept control

But you sold your soul

A perfectly painted picture face

Devil in disguise

Sweet little lies

Fallen from grace

Life lasts till the end

You can fake it, but never pretend

A well paid whore

Rise soar

Tricky Traci no more

Or?

No Cause for Alarm

No Cause for Alarm

I always detested you

A freak by choice

Your spiked hair

And leather jacket

Picturing the Statue of Liberty

Submerged in water

As if drowning

Baring the words

That entitle this poem

I did not detest your rebellion

It intrigued me

Tantalized me

Rather how you would

Cynically mock me

For behaving

Following the rules

And I have come

To the conclusion

That you were right

Now I see

Your picture on Facebook

Your head is shaved

And a M 16

Is raised aimed to kill

And worst of all

You are not joking

I detest you still

But I have learned

An art to survival

Compassion

And so unto you

Whom I will conceal

I send you this

Love Letter

P.S.

I am straight

So there is

No Cause for Alarm

Hey Tamron

Hey Tamron

By John Kaniecki

Hey there sweet baby girl

Precious black pearl

Woman of the world

Elegant lady of style

Give me a precious smile

Let’s talk and laugh a while

Blow the silver trumpets

Let the sacred flag be unfurled

Our banner of freedom flapping in the breeze

Love will put your mind at ease

For our Father

The maker of our soul

Keeps complete control

Understand

He holds the universe in His hand

Can you comprehend

He calls you friend

So in word and deed

Be a friend indeed

Jesus went to the cross

So that not one would be lost

Day after day after day

Trust and obey

No matter how grim things become

God’s will shall be done!

I was Eve the mother of creation

I was the first nation

In almost forgotten days of old

My people discovered secrets untold

I was a Pharoah with a grand pyramid as a grave

I was a humble galley slave

I marched with Hannibal to Rome

I was a wiseman my name now unknown

I was Cleopatra on her golden throne

I was sent to toil in a harsh wicked land

I made a rebel stand

I had dignity in the face of hatred

I was sacred

I fought the good fight

I made a stand for what was right

I am the Creator’s delight

Tomorrow an angel of light

Black clouds drawing near

I refuse to give in to fear

I’ve been fighting all my life

I’m no stranger to strife

We’re still singing We Shall Overcome

For the work isn’t done

Until we are all free

And live decently

So let evil come and spit in my face

I shall conquer with Grace

Oh, wizards wicked and cruel

Who seek to conquer and rule

Don’t count me as a fool

Because I believe in the golden rule

Right is right

And wrong is wrong

I shall sing my song of delight

I am strong

You shall see

Hope gives me the victory

It is already won!

Tamron Hall, I hope you like my little song

For you see

I like my woman as my coffee

Hot, black and strong!

Blues Lady

 Blues Lady

I’m a blues lady this is my song

I’m a blues lady don’t get me wrong

Cleopatra she ain’t got nothing on me

I’m a blues lady and I’ll always be

I’m a blues lady this is my verse

Life could be better life could be worse

On the cross Jesus became a curse

I’m a blues lady this is my verse

I’m a blues lady these are my words

I’m a blues lady I will be heard

I’m a blues lady righteously proud

I’ll sing my song I’ll sing it loud

I cry with Moses set my people free

I cry with Black Elk for the lonesome Cherokee

I never stopped singing we shall overcome

I’m a blues lady I know where I’m from

I’m a blues lady of African birth

I’m a blues lady queen of the Earth

You stole my mother from the Promised Land

I’m a blues lady don’t you understand?

I’m a blues lady this is my song

I’m a blues lady don’t get me wrong

Cleopatra she ain’t got nothing on me

I’m a blues lady and I’ll always be

The Nameless

 The Nameless

There was a man who did the time without the crime

Rich man laughs walking down the street can’t spare a dime

On La Rue Avenue he plays the blues for free

She sings and brings all the things of her reality

We are the nameless but we have names

We are the players but these ain’t games

And the government is full of shames

We are the nameless but we have names

Once I was Pharoah but that was a long time ago

I don’t get out that much maybe a disco

Hannibal is marching the elephants are dreaming

Armies being trampled no telling whose screaming

We are the nameless but we have names

We are the players but these ain’t games

And the government is full of shames

We are the nameless but we have names

America the empire who never lost in a war

America the empire it’s Babylon the Whore

They called them Indians but Columbus got lost

They called them Indians I’m still counting the cost

A summers day on the burning plantation field

Singing songs of freedom the spirit won’t yield

A vision of glory Jesus carrying his cross

“Come on you slaves work harder” yells out the big boss

We are the nameless but we have names

We are the players but these ain’t games

And the government is full of shames

We are the nameless but we have names

Billionaires want to shoot rocket ships out to Mars

Paupers are hooting coveting electric guitars

And poets like me write songs trying to give hope

They’ll hang themselves for sure just give them enough rope

We are the nameless but we have names

We are the players but these ain’t games

And the government is full of shames

We are the nameless but we have names

Dreams

Dreams

I guess I must confess it was Sleeping Beauty

Or bright Snow White such a delightful cutie

I was young and the big screen cartoons seemed real

How could they be wrong please tell me what’s the deal?

My dreams never came true how about you?

I was searching for a woman wild and true

Who would love me the whole night through

Dreams are only for the lucky few

Carol Gay in her day fought for the working poor

She stood for the union and against the war

Looking fine on the picket line with her sign

At last Carol has passed to meet the divine

My dreams never came true how about you?

I was searching for a woman wild and true

Who would love me the whole night through

Dreams are only for the lucky few

In the mansion on the hill there’s a huge heating bill

White collared priests in black never do God’s will

Jesus said the right path was narrow and straight

Not in heaven at fifty-seven still forsaking hate

My dreams never came true how about you?

I was searching for a woman wild and true

Who would love me the whole night through

Dreams are only for the lucky few

They call it the American dream don’t tell the Sioux

If you ain’t on top don’t stop until you get the view

Chasing nothing wake up from the loveless fantasy

We don’t need money honey just come dance with me

On the turntable the record sweetly spins

Come take my hand understand nobody wins

Come hear Marvin Gay singing What’s Going On

A crash in a midnight flash and this life’s gone

My dreams never came true how about you?

I was searching for a woman wild and true

Who would love me the whole night through

Dreams are only for the lucky few
