A Trillion Ways

A Trillion Ways

Can you pick between rainbows and moonbeams

Between hot fantasy and sacred dreams

When the odds are high I know just to do

I take a moment and focus on you

There are a trillion ways they define eternity

I only have one love that’s what you mean to me

There are a trillion ways from here to infinity

I want to live all of my days just you and me

This crazy old Earth’s spinning round and round

On the train to glory that’s where we’re bound

Blow that holy whistle let church bells chime

Your heart sings sweet songs drenched in perfect rhyme

There are a trillion ways they define eternity

I only have one love that’s what you mean to me

There are a trillion ways from here to infinity

I want to live all of my days just you and me

Vultures circle the demons of doom growl

Satan like a lion is on the prowl

Run with me baby heaven’s our only chance

We’ll be heading out after the last dance

There are a trillion ways they define eternity

I only have one love that’s what you mean to me

There are a trillion ways from here to infinity

I want to live all of my days just you and me

The gypsy shuffled the cards I suspected something odd

She said I don’t believe in Zeus what’s the use of a god

The crystal ball told me all I peered into tomorrow

Never mind the fee she said softly you’ll pay in sorrow

Volcanoes blowing up the wind in pain

Forty days and forty nights of endless rain

On a canoe built for two we rode the waves

Together forever even beyond our graves

There are a trillion ways they define eternity

I only have one love that’s what you mean to me

There are a trillion ways from here to infinity

I want to live all of my days just you and me

Racial Injustice

Racial Injustice

It’s really all about the money

Pitting black on white

Telling lies

Making them fight

So they don’t organize

Greed ain’t funny

They say if you’re from the hood

You can’t be any good

A disgrace

An inferior race

But it is clearly understood

When they declare war

They’re happy to take the poor

Hatred’s deep kiss

Racial injustice

The good old boys

Have a circle thin

To share life’s joys

They won’t let you in

But if you betray your kind

You will find

They don’t mind

An Uncle Tom or two

But for me and you

Well we get this evil analysis

Of racial injustice

The satanic wisdom

Of this insidious system

Everybody is fully aware

That it ain’t fare

But they don’t care

White man hating what he sees in the mirror

Snorting cocaine eases his pain

All so his life vain

Is seen all the more clearer

A strong man don’t put others down

Like leaders don’t need a crown

But these jokers pale

From Harvard and Yale

Are superficial, artificial, comical clowns

Inflicting us with their frowns

Hear them hiss

Racial injustice

This Pilgrim’s pride

Land of the brave

Was purchased by genocide

And built on the backs of the slave

But if you take a look

In the history book

You’ll see none of this

Racial injustice

The list is quite long my friend

In fact this poem may never end

But God is good

And it is understood

In Heaven’s bliss

It will be totally free

Of racial injustice

Is This The Way Its Supposed To Be?

Is This The Way Its Supposed To Be?

Be a good citizen march in line

Dream of heaven mighty fine

Do as mommy and daddy say

You’ll understand one distant day

One day oh yes one day

Is this the way it’s supposed to be?

Is this hell or is it just me?

A slave in the land of the free

Is this the way it’s supposed to be?

High schools full of rules

Get good grades avoid the fools

Go to college get a degree

Major in the art of agony

Is this the way it’s supposed to be?

Is this hell or is it just me?

A slave in the land of the free

Is this the way it’s supposed to be?

There is a chemical imbalance inside your brain

Clinically practically you have gone insane

Never mind about the illogical disconnect

The lying hate of the state we must protect

Jesus Christ He is the Son of God

Crucified and slandered a fraud

Never mind the words that He said

We’ll tell you what to think instead

Is this the way it’s supposed to be?

Is this hell or is it just me?

A slave in the land of the free

Is this the way it’s supposed to be?

You Are My World

You Are My World

Seeking words as beautiful as you

But no words would ever do

Who could define a miracle

Or know the essence of the soul

You are my world and more

You are my world and more

You are my world and more

In your arms I am secure

In the Book of Love so it’s begun

Man and woman the two are one

With you by my side I have no care

Even in emptiness we had all to share

You are my world and more

You are my world and more

You are my world and more

In your arms I am secure

Let’s take a spaceship to some star

Seek the pleasures of distant Jupitar

Heaven is any place we can hide

As long as you’re by my side

You are my world and more

You are my world and more

You are my world and more

In your arms I am secure

Let me sing you this love song

Let me kiss away every wrong

When we’re together time stands still

I love you and always will

You are my world and more

You are my world and more

You are my world and more

In your arms I am secure

Every Generation Got a Fire

Every Generation Got a Fire

Sitting singing outside of kings

Skies thundering, I’m wondering

What the weather brings

Playing songs back from sixty two

Sometimes gray sometimes blue

Every generation got a fire

See the system is a liar

Stand up brave stand up bold

Proclaim the truth it must be told

Vietnam is from a history book

I stop to take another look

Iraq and Afghanistan

Going to kill the yellow man

I can only see through my eyes

Seems to me it’s the same old lies

Every generation got a fire

See the system is a liar

Stand up brave stand up bold

Proclaim the truth it must be told

I swore I’d never ever be

Cold and heartless in agony

The songs or wrongs they change

But one thing is so strange

A common theme a common dream

Of the power of Love to redeem

Every generation got a fire

See the system is a liar

Stand up brave stand up bold

Proclaim the truth it must be told

So I sit hoping it won’t rain

So I cry out it’s not in vain

The music, the music hear it explain

World’s gone crazy but the song is sane

Gather round raise your voices in a choir

Every generation got a fire

Every generation got a fire

See the system is a liar

Stand up brave stand up bold

Proclaim the truth it must be told

Au De Restaurant (k29)

Au De Restaurant (k29)

Last night I saw Jim Morison’s twin brother

It had to be him it could be none other

He was singing blues in a little French café

And boy did he sure parlez vous francais

The waiter came by and said bonjour

I pointed to my beer and said some more

Then I spotted a sweet mademoiselle

I knew she wanted me I could just tell

Au de restaurant

You got what I want

Au de restaurant

You got what I want

Well I saw mademoiselle staring at me

She came by and said je m’appelle Marie

The dame sat next to me right at the table

I tell you I was willing and able

I told her you are a beautiful lady

She looked at me and said no speaka anglais

Then she said something with the word l’armour

That word meant love I heard it before

So I hastily said my au revoir

Then I left Marie and went to the bar

Au de restaurant

You got what I want

Au de restaurant

You got what I want

I was sitting next to long dead Jim’s twin

He was drinking from a bottle of gin

He whispered no one hear gets out alive

I laughed in his face and said you’re full of jive

He gave a quick chuckle and smiled a grin

He said to me they way you talk it’s a sin

I said who appointed you God and Lord

He took a swig of gin and said no word

I was fairly drunk my head started to swim

I said Mister who do you think you are Jim

Au de restaurant

You got what I want

Au de restaurant

You got what I want

Yes all that stuff happened to my yesterday

At a French place called the Dead Man’s café

They got what you want

Au de restaurant

Guard Dragons In My Garden

 Guard Dragons In My Garden

Guard Dragons in my garden

I beg your pardon?

What are you growing that you need,

Guard Dragons in your garden

A whole host of weed?

Or perhaps something stranger indeed?

Maybe because

Despite the appropriate laws

In that fenced in acre and a half

Behind your home

You have the rarest gnome

The one that can always make you laugh

You know the tiny imp colored green

The one wearing shades at every scene

Whether twilight or midnight

And pray tell what do your dragons eat?

Delicious licorice?

Or perhaps something more sinisterly sweet?

Lake a damsel in distress

Wearing a pink cotton candy dress

Oh I can guess

Why there are Guard Dragons in your garden

In the morning I hear them roar

In the evening I hear them snore

To them life must be one great bore

For all the champions of the sword

Have joined together in one accord

To flagrantly ignore

Your Guard Dragons in the garden

These knights their hearts did harden

And they have forsaken all nobility

And chivalry

And function simply as roughnecks

Having lost all the ladies respect

Except those seeking a cheap thrill

But alas such a lass

Always will

Sell out cheap and lose no sleep

But my mind ponders and wonders

What happened to the heroes of the downtrodden?

 Despite being highly paid

They are all afraid

Of Guard Dragons in the garden

Big Man On The Block

Big Man On The Block

Back in sixty two the sky was blue turning gray

Something about evil in people won’t go away

Down in southeast Asia Vietnam was smoking

The Soviets were red and nobody was joking

He was the keeper of the sacred clock

They called him the big man on the block

He knew how to roll he knew how to rock

He was of course the big man on the block

Dob Bylan was singing folk songs chasing his dream

Napalm was setting heaven on fire with a scream

Propaganda machine was searching for a perfect phrase

Preacher on the corner screeching about the last days

He was the keeper of the sacred clock

They called him the big man on the block

He knew how to roll he knew how to rock

He was of course the big man on the block

I was born into a world lacking love and grace

Evil was the denomination of the human race

I weep for the hope of what this world could have been

Look around it will be found the wages of sin

He was the keeper of the sacred clock

They called him the big man on the block

He knew how to roll he knew how to rock

He was of course the big man on the block

In the recording studio we turn the dial of the reverb to ten

When the good reverend speaks the truth he gets no amen

We are all casualties of the truth there are no exceptions

I was reading a book and a crook with great expectations

At the end of the day we all pay the piper’s due

What would you do if all of your sweet dreams came true

Bankers and engineers play of the fears of war

We’re living in the bosom of Babylon the Whore

He was the keeper of the sacred clock

They called him the big man on the block

He knew how to roll he knew how to rock

He was of course the big man on the block

Canto 1

 Canto 1

Poetry without a word

The look in your eye heard

Gently I kiss your lips

Slowly we sway our hips

In and out, out and in

Where do you end and I begin?

Sylvia’s Garden

 Sylvia’s Garden

Before the sun rises in the end of winter’s death

With chilly hands and frigid breath

Working the soil with rake and hoe

Knowing come summer a blessing to grow

Carefully placing precious seed in pot

Each cherished child never forgot

Watered and watched until they sprout

Green little creatures coming out

Early spring, past the last frost

Praying to God not one to be lost

In the soil measured apart

With cautious hands and loving heart

Early morn to water with hose

Fulfilling expectations the garden grows

Repeating the watering in the eve

Love is doing what you believe

In summer heat a bounteous place

Smiles all over Sylvia’s face

Fresh lettuce and tomato to pick at will

Mother Earth sharing her thrill

Fall comes and we harvest more

Sharing with Trevor and Ron next door

Resting now as the labor is past

How the season has gone so fast!

Looking over the garden leaves in decay

I am confident of another day

Sylvia’s garden will reappear

As long as the Lord gives us another year

True Love’s Call

True Love’s Call

I hear at night my true love call

I know not any more precious sound

The sweetest of angels sometimes fall

My beauty, my soul, my passion, my all

I look to you for in you I’m found

I hear at night my true love call

I beg of you a kiss if but small

Let me help you to where you are bound

The sweetest of angels sometimes fall

You are a dream so fondly I recall

I perceive a whisper I chase round and round

I hear at night my true love call

Heaven without you stands not so tall

The essence of love now walks the ground

The sweetest of angels sometimes fall

On the cross for water they gave you gall

Why have you forsaken me, the words resound

I hear at night my true love call

The sweetest of angels sometimes fall

Return to Tintern Abbey Again

Return to Tintern Abbey Again

Misconception in a dream

I notice not a true rhyme

But to me it did seem

A place from another time

I never saw a city in decay

As an old man fading away

Though nature is exquisite

There is far more to it

Why worship the created

While the maker is hated

Yet let me not travel that way

I’ll guard the words I say

For I come not to judge you

Just to say I’ve been there too

With you I sit under the tree

In spirit I feel your glee

Thank God you were not blind

Thank God that He is kind

For what in nature you see

Is but one facet of beauty

Oh master poet long dead

Some worship the words you said

I realize it was not meant so

Each has a separate way to go

To unlock what is within

That is how to begin

For each one is unique

With their own voice to speak

At Tintern Abbey we did meet

As comrades in battle’s heat

The words you have once said

Your cause I have deserted

At Tintern Abbey may you forever rest

For at Tintern Abbey it was your best

At Tintern Abbey you did discover

That nature she is your brother

It may be unnatural your view

But I see it also too

More strange then a circus freak

More beauty then we can speak

In wilderness perfection we find

Yet this perfection is so unkind

Spring the coming of life

Summer celebration of the living

Fall it cuts as a knife

Winter it is so unforgiving

The circle it is then whole

On the circle travels your soul

Past, future, present

Still your life is spent

Your travel nowhere fast

I pray your nowhere to last

So farewell my good friend

At Tintern Abbey we’ll meet once again

POLISHED FRAGMENTS

Hey Tamron

Hey Tamron

By John Kaniecki

Hey there sweet baby girl

Precious black pearl

Woman of the world

Elegant lady of style

Give me a precious smile

Let’s talk and laugh a while

Blow the silver trumpets

Let the sacred flag be unfurled

Our banner of freedom flapping in the breeze

Love will put your mind at ease

For our Father

The maker of our soul

Keeps complete control

Understand

He holds the universe in His hand

Can you comprehend

He calls you friend

So in word and deed

Be a friend indeed

Jesus went to the cross

So that not one would be lost

Day after day after day

Trust and obey

No matter how grim things become

God’s will shall be done!

I was Eve the mother of creation

I was the first nation

In almost forgotten days of old

My people discovered secrets untold

I was a Pharoah with a grand pyramid as a grave

I was a humble galley slave

I marched with Hannibal to Rome

I was a wiseman my name now unknown

I was Cleopatra on her golden throne

I was sent to toil in a harsh wicked land

I made a rebel stand

I had dignity in the face of hatred

I was sacred

I fought the good fight

I made a stand for what was right

I am the Creator’s delight

Tomorrow an angel of light

Black clouds drawing near

I refuse to give in to fear

I’ve been fighting all my life

I’m no stranger to strife

We’re still singing We Shall Overcome

For the work isn’t done

Until we are all free

And live decently

So let evil come and spit in my face

I shall conquer with Grace

Oh, wizards wicked and cruel

Who seek to conquer and rule

Don’t count me as a fool

Because I believe in the golden rule

Right is right

And wrong is wrong

I shall sing my song of delight

I am strong

You shall see

Hope gives me the victory

It is already won!

Tamron Hall, I hope you like my little song

For you see

I like my woman as my coffee

Hot, black and strong!
