Progress

 Progress

Forest

A green dream

Life exploding

Flies a buzz

Mosquitoes too, we hear them hum

Wind passing through the leaves

Birds sing their songs

Woodpeckers steady tapping

Pricklers, we stay away from the sharp thorns

Squirrels leaping in the high branches of the trees

A woodchuck in caution peering cautiously at us

We roll over a rotted log

Centipedes, millipedes scurry

We gaze upon the treasured salamander

He is curiously beautiful to us

The creeks water ripples

We cross stepping on stones

Cautiously we traverse hoping not to get our feet wet

Minnows, goldfish, tadpoles swim

Frogs croak, startled they leap

A turtle darts by

In the distant we gaze upon a deer

A precious creature of extravagant beauty

Small white flowers grow among crab grass

Crashing bulldozers come

And make everything flat

The sign boasts of a new development

Civilization!

What was is no more

We walked the newly created muddy wasteland

Shock, horror, grief

The have a euphemism for it

Progress

We leave there is another sign saying in bright orange letters

“NO TRESSPASSING”

Sings say a lot without noise

Pushing The Rock Up The Hill

Pushing The Rock Up The Hill

I declare by this aching back and sore feet

That the sweat of my brow is not so sweet

I saw Sisyphus body slam Jesus

And since then, before the final amen there was them and us

Rosa Parks, skin so dark, refused to sit at the back of the bus

Now we get jet airplanes in Dubai

And B-1 bombers a billion of pop that don’t fly

And the boulder on my shoulder is getting bolder

Every second the universe is cursed getting older

Shouldn’t we digress and express the blessing

Where in time is the crime, I stand only guessing

Inch by inch becomes a mile without a smile

Sensational darling love that poetic style

Climb, climb, climb

Rhyme, rhyme, free verse

See this all but a metaphor

But what for?

Birthday wishes for a dear Facebook friend name Bruce

Turn up the candles twist the fire of desire loose

Life is meant for the living, no excuse

We all have our moments of abuse

Dreams come true

I met her and she/he met you

Pushing the rock up the hill

And I suppose I always will

Pushing the rock up the hill

Still

You can always enjoy the view

Engraved in stone God’s will

Thou shall not kill

But heads of rock may shock

And if the hill is steep

That faithful promise they cannot keep

Don’t let that evil rock roll down

United at the zenith we collect our laurel crown

Peace, peace, be still

Pushing the rock up the hill

Sunrise Over Saskatchewan

Sunrise Over Saskatchewan

Sunrise over Saskatchewan

Where have all the good times gone?

In the past forever to last in memory

While tomorrow offers the tempting promises of eternity

With Malcolm X I demand respect

Who are you to cajole and vex?

I am free

Standing under understanding the glory of the pine tree

Water is life

To my rhythmic lovers of fantasy I am more than wife

Cut deeply oh sacred knife – cleansed by the fire’s flame

I TOO HAVE DESIRE!!!

I bear no shame

Stab into marrow and bone

I stand alone

With friends and family

I am free

I see the tea?

A gentle watering can appropriately green

A funky white container with flowers pretty

Ever been to New York City?

Babylon is not as pretty as a

Sunrise over Saskatchewan

Our collective innocence is gone

And this is a birthday pome?

I missed the garden have pardon

Let me bake you a cake

Let me be real and not fake

Let me say have a special day

For this is the anniversary of your birth

Janice Lee Dongworth

Here’s a clue

Like Jesus, I love you

But as we go on in time and fades this rhyme

Will that be true?

Cash the photoflash the moment is gone

Where Is The Parking?

Where Is The Parking?

I couldn’t catch the subway train

Eyes electric lady land vain

I didn’t even have any friends

Besides my Porsche and Mercedes Benz

So I hustled off to Alamo

And snorted a gram of blow

But the CIA was in a little worry

As they fled the scene in diabolical hurry

I saw a spot but it was awful tight

To fit in, to fit in, well I just might

Of course, I didn’t want to scratch the paint

If I did, I’d yell a spell and then faint

There was dog dodo on the ground

My heart in angst began to pound

I pressed the metal to the pedal in backwards cliché

And fled to what was a better day

Yuppies are a thing of the past

And police cruisers ride mighty fast

Chief Columbo is a confidant

Pray tell what more could you want

Another parking deck?

A dismal gigantic metallic wreck

Where is the parking snorted the whore?

What does it matter if there’s nuclear war?

Into The Morning

Into The Morning

After making love

As the light from the hall

Faintly shines

A beacon of reality

Conflicting with my dreary dreams

I embrace your warm body

Secure in my arms

Deeply satisfied

For the moment, only for the moment

I have a secret

Encrypted in the language of stars

I am an astrologer

A seer of visions

A prophet of things yet to come

It haunts me

Like the satisfaction coursing through my bones

Wars and rumors of wars

The bitterest one

Fought in the psyche of my being

I weep for the children

Born for the slaughter

Who will never know a blue sky

Or be able to drink

From the refreshing fountains

Of God's green Earth

But you with your heavy breath

Are oblivious of the holocaust

On the horizon

Cannot you read the signs of the times?

Am I the only one not blind?

Or is denial such a potent aphrodisiac

And all the wise men

Subtly seduced

Tricky Traci

 Tricky Traci

Leering haunted eyes

Definition of sin

More then they wanted

Skin, skin, skin

Hey sweet heart all star of the bachelor’s night

Every elegant inch stunningly dynamite

Licking luscious lips seductively seducing grin

Mini, mini skirt, inviting one and all in

Shirt tight soon to be tossed away

Kit Kat Tiger, roaring, soaring in play

Lights, camera, satisfaction

More, more, more, consume each and every fraction

Triple X rated

Applauded celebrated

Groan and Moan

Focus on alone

Intimate desire

Fornicating fire

Why does the West wind blow?

From whence do waters come?

Life is but a show?

Only to some

I know a secret little girl

I can tell a plastic pearl

Hurt turns a tornado in a twirl

Not even raw cocaine

Could ease your pain

Tempted twisted torn

Pierced by porn

See the mirror

Mascara, lipstick, glow, is it clearer?

Maybe you kept control

But you sold your soul

A perfectly painted picture face

Devil in disguise

Sweet little lies

Fallen from grace

Life lasts till the end

You can fake it, but never pretend

A well paid whore

Rise soar

Tricky Traci no more

Or?

Rain

Rain

On the shore of evermore the armies march to war

A terrible scene that we’ve seen many times before

For God country and king the united voices sing

Doom death and destruction the fruits they bring

May the heavens open let it rain

Can sinners be forgiven let it rain

A baptism of fire ample pain

Life mysteries that none can explain

Let it rain let it rain let it rain

A mother’s weeping bitter tears flowing as a stream

Her son’s a casualty and thus dies the dream

She clutches a photograph he’s in his uniform

How many will perish in this devilish dark storm

May the heavens open let it rain

Can sinners be forgiven let it rain

A baptism of fire ample pain

Life mysteries that none can explain

Let it rain let it rain let it rain

Businessmen with greedy minds clutch coins of gold

Don’t you know that long ago their souls they sold

Fluent in lies it’s no surprise the words they tell

They promise heaven on Earth bringing only hell

May the heavens open let it rain

Can sinners be forgiven let it rain

A baptism of fire ample pain

Life mysteries that none can explain

Let it rain let it rain let it rain

And the child is innocent pure as a dove

And the child is innocent secure in love

The tender shoot they pollute with deceit

A wicked world always to compete

An innocent man there was in some distant time

Nailed to the cross telling the truth his only crime

Sacred saints recorded his words in a holy book

The profits of today say amen and never look

May the heavens open let it rain

Can sinners be forgiven let it rain

A baptism of fire ample pain

Life mysteries that none can explain

Let it rain let it rain let it rain

A Martian Stole My Blueberry Pie

A Martian Stole My Blueberry Pie

By John Kaniecki

I set out coveting Venus

But just between us

I had the concern

Of getting a red burn

From the sun’s glare

So great was the scare

That I turned tail toward Saturn

Oh the lesson I would learn

We were in the asteroid belt

When my legs felt

As if they were going to melt

So there in the midnight high

I baked a blueberry pie

It was sweet and complete

And looked great to eat

Well I had a skeleton crew

Numbering few

I did not have a second thought

And in my folly I was caught

For come passing Jupiter’s moon

I checked upon my pie

And sure as the sky

Somebody did consume far too soon

My delicious desert

And boy did it hurt

I examined the large man from Titan

He looked guilty as sin

But it didn’t make sense

And I could produce no evidence

Then I saw the Martian’s teeth

They were blue underneath

So we charged him with treason

And for no good reason

He was evicted into deep space

Where he vanished without a trace

The moral of this fable

Is don’t leave a blueberry pie

Unattended on a table

Peace on Earth

Peace on Earth

By John Kaniecki

My wish for Christmas

Is peace on Earth

Wasn’t that the promise

At our dear Lord’s birth

For peace on Earth I pray

We need it to survive

Join with me today

Help keep the dream alive

Peace only comes from Love

Not from guns and war

Do you know where I’m coming from

Become part of the cure

God in heaven wishes us well

We are His children one and all

He Loves us more than we can tell

Join the cause of peace, heed the call

My wish for Christmas

Is peace on Earth

Wasn’t that the promise

At our dear Lord’s birth

Psycho

Psycho

You can tell he’s gonna win

Cause there’s magic inside his grin

And though he holds no aces

He bluffs with different faces

While up his sleeve to ease the pain

Is a gram or two of good cocaine

For sure he’ll have a woman tonight

If she don’t put up too much of a fight

His name is John that we all know

But we like to call him Psycho

You could call him no good

Even perhaps a punk or a hood

But I say in all likelihood

Psycho is just misunderstood

Sure he was once my brother

I was amazed and fooled by his cover

But beyond the smile full of pride

I saw a small child hid deep inside

Oh yes he played the game oh so well

He never let on to his inner hell

Always laughing toking a joint

With fluid language, he proved his point

But he was so empty and hollow

He never cared about his tomorrow

Perhaps one day he’s gonna grow

But still we call him Psycho

You could call him no good

Even perhaps a punk or a hood

But I say in all likelihood

Psycho is just misunderstood

Psycho

Do you know

It’s true

I love you

We split apart

It hurt my heart

But I still say

We had a good day

Friends before

Perhaps pals once more

I can’t say though

Oh Psycho

I wonder if you have grown

Maybe you got kids of your own

I’d love to see you correct your child

When you were once so crazy and wild

Will you play the part of the hypocrite?

Or are you gonna break down and explain it?

And if they ask and they want to know

Will you say that you were once Psycho

You could call him no good

Even perhaps a punk or a hood

But I say in all likelihood

Psycho is just misunderstood

Piggy, Piggy, Piggy

Piggy, Piggy, Piggy

Piggy, piggy, piggy nice and fat

Fine overcoat a black top hat

Goes to the theatre looking so fine

See the whole farm wish it was mine

Piggy, piggy, piggy eats his feed

Gobbles on up more than he does need

Only thinks about fat number one

Won’t be nothing left when he’s done

Piggy, piggy, piggy wants some more

Got a wife, a mistress and a whore

It is very hard to fill the cup

When you can’t keep the gosh darn thing up

Piggy, piggy, piggy has no friend

People are just a means to an end

Darkness lives inside of his black soul

His only dream is complete control

Piggy, piggy, piggy speaks with lies

Never tells the truth, he never tries

Changes his story to fit the times

Never admits to his evil crimes

Piggy, piggy, piggy slaughter day

So much evil now it’s time to pay

Piggy, piggy, piggy time to stop

You’ll really make a nice pork chop

"Resisting Arrest" Poem by Alex Phuong

Resisting Arrest

By Alex Phuong

Uniting uniformed unity
You and I defy the sky
Team work and collaboration
Up to personal discretion
Civil Rights
Civility
Minorities against majorities
Stick to the status quo
But should we...?
Really?
Defy thy stars
And seek new avenues
Harness the power of creativity
And merge sense with sensibility
"Utopia" was conceived by Thomas More
But all must still must strive for more
For he was A Man for All Seasons
Arrests might be criminal
But people cannot be subliminal
If they want to break free
Listen to words of wisdom from me
“Know thyself, be thyself, harmoniously”
