Marlene

Marlene

Hey Marlene heaven is no longer a dream

And the journey ain’t what it seems

The old rugged cross lies at your feet

The struggle now sensationally sweet

Gone are the turmoil, pains, and strife

In the Promised Land

You come to understand

The true meaning of life

Not a worry, not a hurry, not a care

You can personally deliver every prayer

Forever seventeen

In a place where numbers mean

Nothing

Infinite days to give God praise

Infinite hours to enjoy the reward

Reclining, laughing at the table of the Lord

Your cup overflowing

Intimately knowing the bliss of righteousness

Infinite seconds to simply enjoy

A perfect peace none can destroy

Walk around the streets of gold

See wonders too marvelous to behold

Take your beloved Eddie by the hand

Slow dance to the music of the angel band

Life itself is at your command

In heaven there is love at every bend

In heaven there are no strangers

In heaven there are no dangers

In heaven everyone is a friend

In heaven you are never alone

And God is the Light upon the throne

Heaven is an eternal joy which none can destroy

In heaven we are free

Heaven is beyond eternity

A place of grace where all the Faithful will be

So long and take care

We hope to see you there

My Decision

 My Decision

(An chapter from CAN I GET A WITNESS)

Becoming a Christian was the best decision that I have ever made in my life. I want to show the dynamics of my conversion. Everybody’s decision of faith comes about differently but I am sure there are also similarities.

First and foremost I was convinced that Jesus Christ was the Son Of God. This conviction came solely from the reading of the Bible, in particular the New Testament. In fact I hadn’t even read the Old Testament when I was baptized. My friend Frank always liked to rave about a book he read called, “Lord, Lunatic or Liar.” I never read it but Frank may have given me a copy of it. The basic premise of the book is that if you dissect Jesus’ words there are only three conclusions that you can come to. That he is either the Lord or a lunatic or a liar. I believed He was the Lord.

Secondly Frank’s Bible studies taught me the plan of salvation at least in a primitive form. The study he shared with me was something he developed as an offshoot from his experience with the International Church of Christ. I can’t remember much of it. However I did discover a study when I was searching in the basement. I had to laugh at the simplicity. The study presented a scripture and then there was a question regarding the scriptures. Then four answers were presented making it multiple choice test. I recall reading a question, “When the Eunuch heard the gospel how did he respond?” One of the answers was to say the sinner’s prayer, another was of course baptism.

Frank also used the book of Joshua to help me understand the nature of the gospel. It just so happened that we were studying the book of Joshua in Bible study at the time. In particular we talked about the walls of Jericho falling. God gave Israel what seemed to be some outrageous and illogical commands. They were to silently walk around the city day after day and then on the final day shout. Israel obeyed God’s command and they were successful. The principle is that if God commands you to do it then we are to obey, even though it doesn’t make sense. So getting immersed in water for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit, (Acts 2:38) might not make sense to us but it is what the Bible teaches. Now I understand that at baptism we join Jesus on the cross and the blood washes us from our sins, Romans 6. (We will look at this in depth using scriptures.)

Thirdly I had a lot of people who were great Christian influences in my life. They were warm and accepting and showed me genuine Love. I cannot overemphasize the importance of this. If the Love wasn’t present I may not have accepted Christ.

I had announced to Frank that I had planned to hitchhike across the country. So what he did was teach two studies on one night. I believe it was a Thursday. As a result of the studies I was convicted that I needed to get baptized. My motivation was to get my business right with God and to do what He wanted in my life. I remember driving to Patty’s apartment who was Frank’s girlfriend at the time. I was praying with all my might that I wouldn’t die along the way. When I got to Patty’s the bathtub was full of water waiting for me. I was baptized.

Frank said something to the effect, “When you got baptized you shoulder wasn’t under but it doesn’t matter.” This statement always pricked at my heart from time to time. I certainly didn’t believe I wasn’t a Christian. My life had drastically changed for the better. However from time to time, the devil would torment me with those haunting words. Then I said to myself, ‘why are you being so foolish?’ I simply went into the water once more making sure I was completely buried in the water. Now all doubt is settled in my mind about my baptism.

Three important things happen at baptism. As we mentioned before one’s sins are forgiven and the new Christian receives the gift of the Holy Spirit, Acts 2:38. The third is that the person is reborn and enters the kingdom of heaven, or the Church of Christ. “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God,” John 3:5. No matter what the age of the Christian they are a babe in Christ spiritually immature.

Babies of course must be treated with special care. If ever a Christian needed the love and the support of the congregation after baptism is the moment. The presence of a young Christian should make us use our tongue with care, especially when talking about others and church problems. A new Christina needs to be fed with milk and not meat. The Bible in Hebrews 6:1-2 defines what milk is. “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,  Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.”

Even if you do your best to help a new Christian some are going to leave the faith, it is what scripture teaches. Luke 8 depicts the conversion process as planting seeds in four different soils. The first seed lands on the way side and there is no conversion. That is the person who doesn’t believe. The second falls on the rock. These people start to grow but have no root. They eventually fall away. The third group falls among thorns. These grow but are eventually choked by the cares and riches and pleasures in life. Only the last group consisting of those with a ‘good and honest heart’ hears the word and keeps it bringing fruit, so based on that if one out of three people remain faithful you are doing well.

Mind you that it is not your position to determine who is a genuine Christian and who is going to fall away. Some of the strongest Christians I know had a shaky start in their faith. Personally, several months after my baptism, I was committed to a psychiatric hospital. I am very glad not everybody gave up on me. Also you have to understand that not everybody in the church is a genuine Christian. Mathew 13 depicts the ‘kingdom of heaven’ as being full of wheat and tares. The wheat is the children of God and the tares are the children of the devil. Over time it may become evident as to which member is wheat and which member is a tare. People are known by their fruit. So we can go to Galatians chapter 5 and see the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. Those who do evil are for the devil and those who do good are for God. But we are not to judge, that is Jesus job. We don’t know the heart. The parable of the ‘wheat and tares’ commands us to let them grow together. At the harvest, or Judgment Day they will be separated. The reason giving is that if we pull up some tares we might inadvertently pull up some wheat in the process. Also when wheat and tares are young they are indistinguishable in appearance when compared to the wheat. Best policy is Love everybody and hope for the best.

Fourth World Nation

Fourth World Nation

Your history but lies your natural tongue

Fiery hornets from hell how you stung

Columbus got lost now we’re counting the cost

Nobody nowhere you have a heart of frost

We are the remnant no salvation

In the land of plenty fourth world nation

Confined to our barren reservation

In the land of plenty fourth world nation

The wages of sin who understands

An unholy holocaust by your righteous hands

You have your Bible but you refuse to obey

We’ll have our time before Judgment Day

We are the remnant no salvation

In the land of plenty fourth world nation

Confined to our barren reservation

In the land of plenty fourth world nation

On the winds hear our eternal cries

The voice of Crazy Horse never dies

Once the buffalo roamed with no number

Once the buffalo stampeded with thunder

In defiance of science what have you done

Wicked evil there’s nothing new under the sun

Paradise deformed to Babylon the Great

You shall be crushed by the weight of your own hate

We are the remnant no salvation

In the land of plenty fourth world nation

Confined to our barren reservation

In the land of plenty fourth world nation

Courage Compassion Peace

Courage Compassion Peace

Dogs of war

Bark in the dark

Babylon the Whore

Comes with the Beast’s mark

Hatred is on the increase

But wrong is always wrong

So stay strong

Courage, compassion, peace

For all the darkness of the universe

Cannot diminish a solitary flame

And the foulest curse

Cannot rebuke a holy name

Courage is truly a light

The fortitude to do what is right

No matter what the cost

Even if all is lost

With compassion

Love’s best lesson

Can never cease

Bringing the fruit of perfect peace

Yes we can reach the sky

But only if we try

So live a life of Love

And we shall reach above

If in your life there is worth

We can bring some heaven to Earth

Jesus Christ Blues

 Jesus Christ Blues

Spent all night in the garden deep in prayer

Spent all night in the garden deep in prayer

And all my friends they didn’t care

Judas came looking for me with a mob

Judas came looking for me with a mob

Guess I gotta find me a new job

Brought me before Pilot yeah he understands

Brought me before Pilot yeah he understands

Said forget you as he washed his hands

Mocked and ridiculed given a crown of thorns

Mocked and ridiculed given a crown of thorns

To die for your sins that’s why I was born

Dying on the cross between two dirty thieves

Dying on the cross between two dirty thieves

I give salvation to whosoever believes

Raised from the dead after three long days

Raised from the dead after three long days

Get down on your knees and give some praise

One day I’ll come like a thief in the night

One day I’ll come like a thief in the night

I pray to God that you make things right

In Your Father’s Arms (Remembering Jason Owens)

In Your Father’s Arms (Remembering Jason  Owens)

By John Kaniecki

Jason Owens what have they done?

On that lonesome wicked day

Shot you down with their gun

Didn’t even let you pray

To say your final tearful goodbye
To your dad at home in the sky

Jason Owens what have they done?

My poet’s pen is cold and numb

They can do you no more harm

You are safe and secure

In your Father’s arms

Jason Owens, Mother Earth welcomes you

Another tear

Another smear

On the red, white and blue

The headlines I demand
“MARSHALS MURDER MOURNING MAN’

Jason Owens what have they done?

Your life over just as it begun

Never to see Justin grow old

Your grandchildren you won’t hold

I will hold fast to this one charm

You are safe and secure

In your Father’s arms

Listen to what the Good Book says

The Sword cuts both ways

Jesus will judge those wicked cowards

But let our cry be heard

Hear my sacred vow

WE WANT JUSTICE NOW!

Jason Owens what have they done?

Your crimson blood screams

They called your name

And then let the bullets fly

Oh, to hear your anguished mother’s cry

And the authorities told a grand lie

With no cameras to witness the facts

Wednesday, August 24th, 2022, a day forever black

Jason Owens what have they done?

Another name, another shame, on an endless list

Evil shall persist until we resist

I hear the rustling of the bones of Mother Jones

A nation collectively groans

I point the finger of blame on the institution

With revolution the solution

Blow the horn! Ring the bell!

This wicked tale we must tell

Jason Owens, I hope you died not in vain

But that is up to the living

We that seek justice must sound the alarm

Rest Jason Owens a chapter is complete

But even in death there is no defeat

You are safe and secure

In your Father’s arms

The Garden

 The Garden

By John Kaniecki

I am, he is, she was, we will be

The brutal sun shines, and has shined, and will shine some more,

Jah twirling a diamond

diadem of creation

as if on top an oak staff spinning in hand

Sprinkling hues of light

Lavender, purple, rose, pink

A recreation of darkest carbon

Somber winds soar over the sea

Kissing his lover

Making waves of emotion

with white caps of ecstasy

sunlight penetrates

warmth birthing clouds

White laughter, darker shades of doom

Blown over vast expanses of perishing Mother Earth

Children, crying, yearning

Trees rustling leaves dancing poetically

Tall grass moaning, yellowish brown, swaying

Cows skeletal stomachs seeking sustenance

To fill hollow empty caverns

Creeks now depressed passages,

foul smelling mud

cracked or at best damp, a frowning face

Agonized depression in unified appeals

To heaven

Help us
Jah

Crackling thunder, boom, boom, barroom!!

Announcing what is to come

Scattering flocks fly, fluttering confused wings

Scurrying creatures search for shelter

Wilderness senses satisfying salvation

A solitary drop splattering

Suddenly a sensation of satisfaction

More and more the rain does poor

Lightning slashes slaying a tree

For the long prolonged climax

Hard, dry ground rejecting its deepest desire

Water denied gathers as

the onslaught unmercifully falls

Parched land produces puddles

Currents come into existence

The creek normally gentle and swaying

Transformed to a river rapidly roaring

Increasing intensity dissecting the banks caving in

Cutting and taking

branches, twigs, leaves, logs

All whisk down toward the sea

A rock rambles and rolls on the bottom

emancipated from its grave

Aftermath

A refreshed reality

The Storm of the Latter Rain, a Storm of Eternity

Civilization in cataclysmic ruin

Armageddon

In renewed compassion we weep

for the multitudes

dead

The digital age has died

Technology terminated

Nobody cried nor cared

We were lost

We will not be lost in worry

A single cricket sings as a hushed creation listens

Thirsty, Jah stoops to drink from the creek

Water refreshing crystal clear

Lapping slippery liquid satisfying his thirst

A sparkle catches his eye

Intrigued he dives into

A baptism, he shivers resisting bitter cold

Clutching out towards the stone

Reborn he gazes upon the diamond in wonder

A token for his Love

We have forever returned to the garden

This time with wisdom

Abraham Raised The Knife

 Abraham Raised The Knife

Your feeling blue cause thing ain’t working out

Wondering if God loves you there’s plenty of doubt

Let me tell you plainly let me make you aware

We have a cross to bear and a message to share

I gotta tell you something about life

Abraham raised the knife

To kill the only child of his wife

Don’t you know that Abraham raised the knife?

God is good and God is great and God He’s never late

But human beings well we never want to wait

I guarantee when all that remains is your final prayer

God Almighty will loose the chains and fill you with care

I gotta tell you something about life

Abraham raised the knife

To kill the only child of his wife

Don’t you know that Abraham raised the knife?

Trust in Him when all seems lost

Trust in Him don’t you count the cost

Give Him the praise He’s faithful and true

Give Him the praise He really loves you

Precious child awaiting you is a priceless reward

When things get wild hold on trust in the Lord

Angels are watching and the Good Shepherd near

So be brave and bold do as your told without fear

I gotta tell you something about life

Abraham raised the knife

To kill the only child of his wife

Don’t you know that Abraham raised the knife?

"The Least Of Them" by John Kaniecki

The Least Of Them
by John Kaniecki
“And the king will answer them, ‘I tell you the truth, just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine, you did it for me” (Mathew 25:40 NET).
If one looks at this statement literally it is perhaps one of the most powerful statements in the Bible. That is, the way that you treat any human being is the way that you are treating Jesus. If Jesus came up to you and said “I’m hungry”, I am sure that you would give him all of the food that you had. But what about that drug-addicted man, dressed in rags, who is always begging by the side of the road. According to this scripture, there is no difference between the two.
Seeing Jesus everywhere you look will change your outlook on life in a dramatic way. He is your neighbor, the stranger, why, even your enemy. This sits right with our call to love everybody. In the accompanying passages of this parable, Jesus talks about feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, visiting the sick or those in prison, clothing the naked and taking in the stranger. All of these actions are visible, practical, and tangible demonstrations of love.
I am a full-time caregiver for my wife. As such, I cannot work a regular job, as she requires constant attention and care. I had a brother in Christ, who probably lives a mile away, say to me, “I’ll pray for you.” He knows both my situation and my needs but the best he can do is pray for me. He doesn’t visit and doesn’t call, let alone come and watch my wife to relieve me of my stressful duty for a few precious hours.
On the other hand, I’ve had sisters who came and cleaned my apartment. I’ve had brethren who watched my wife when I was in the hospital. I’ve had brethren who have brought me food and have given my wife clothes. I’ve had brethren who have watched my wife so I could go food shopping. I’ve had brethren call to check up on me and encourage me along the way.
Let me tell you that words are cheap. When I look back at my thirty years of Christianity, what stands out to me are those who demonstrated love to me. I can scarcely remember the sermons preached but I can vividly recall when somebody was there for me in a time of need.
As such, I want to help others out whenever and as often as I can. I look at every person as if they are Jesus and I “say how can I help?” Of course, I can never meet the needs of every single person I encounter within my life. Then again, Jesus didn’t heal all the lepers in Israel, or raise every dead corpse, did he?
Do as much good to as many as you can – that is the lesson for the day. “The one who is gracious to the poor lends to the Lord, and the Lord will repay him for his good deed” (Proverbs 19:17).
