Get Up And Live

 Get Up And Live

Wake up get up the sun is rising in the eastern skies

Time you understand the message and open up your eyes

They’ve muddied the rivers and they polluted the skies

In the caverns of your mind so they planted their lies

Get up and live you only get one chance

Get up and live ask your sweetheart to dance

Get up and live life is a gift of grace

Get up and live make the world a better place

We are on a journey we’re the people of one nation

In service to your brethren is the glory of salvation

So you were born in poverty and baptized in sorrow

That was yesterday my friend you still got tomorrow

Get up and live you only get one chance

Get up and live ask your sweetheart to dance

Get up and live life is a gift of grace

Get up and live make the world a better place

Some men they were born to sing the blues

And some men they walk the Earth with no shoes

And some men live in palaces grand

But all men are equal do you understand?

For God He is the creator of us all

And in His sight there is no great or small

The philosophy of equality is not a radical notion

Hand in hand sharing all we set the future in motion

You are a stone in God’s temple a wonderful thing

You have reasons to rejoice you have reasons to sing

Get up and live you only get one chance

Get up and live ask your sweetheart to dance

Get up and live life is a gift of grace

Get up and live make the world a better place

Won’t you walk with me as I go down the narrow and straight?

I promise you love I have forsaken the ways of hate

Look in the mirror my friend tell me what do you see

I see the secret in your eyes I see humanity

Get up and live you only get one chance

Get up and live ask your sweetheart to dance

Get up and live life is a gift of grace

Get up and live make the world a better place

I sung the blues

 I Sung the Blues

Momma was a Baptist holy as can be

Papa was a drunk loved his whiskey

How they’d fight scream and shout

Couldn’t stand it just one way out

I sung the blues

It came from my heart

I sung the blues

Surviving was an art

Momma had good news

Papa had his views

And me

I sung the blues

Well daddy drifted in and out

Momma did her best I had no doubt

Scrubbing floors and cooking meals

I learned real young how hunger feels

I sung the blues

It came from the soul

I sung the blues

Music took control

Momma worked like hell

Papa never did well

And me
I sung the blues

Church was packed on my saddest day

Good Lord Jesus took my momma away

They say God He’s full of Love so kind

Why’d he take momma and leave me behind

I sung the blues

Louder than the choir

I sung the blues

I was a blazing fire

Momma went to glory

Poppa was out of the story

And me

I sung the blues

So here I am close your eyes to see

Music is a healer come to set you free

In my voice, I rejoice, it’s my choice

You can’t touch my song and make it wrong

Life ain’t easy we all pay our dues

I got sorrow to borrow I sing the blues

I sing the blues

On the radio

I sing the blues

On the t.v. show

Momma I miss

Papa thanks for this

Cause of you

I sung the blues

Bells and Whistles, Thorns and Thistles

The Seven O’ Five Train Is Running Late

Ding, Ding, Ding, Hear the Bells ring

See the train, clear and plain

Life’s insane

Ding, Ding, Ding, Hear the Bells ring

Bars descend, Blocking tracks

Bars descend, Traffic held back

Woooooooooooooooohh!!! Goes the whistle

Woooooooooooooooohh!!! Goes the whistle

Hear it blow,

So everyone will know, the train comes near

So everyone will know, deep dark fear

Feel the ground, Rumble and Shake

A loud deafening sound, Hard to take

Silence shattered, Birds have scattered

We have defiled, everything that mattered

The seven o’ five, A little behind

It’s seven fifteen

                 The passengers

ARE OUT OF THEIR MIND

They’re getting mean,

TEN MINUTES LATE!!

Hurry, hurry, worry, worry

Can’t debate

Deadlines to make, Punch in the clock

Rules to break, A world in a lock

Governed by Mammon

A spiritual famine

Cold and cruel

M a n y   t h e  f o o l

And thus begins an epic tale of Edgar the banker and his exploits focused on the train he uses first to commute to work and then to 'escape.'

ALL ABOARD THE TRAIN!!! Commuting has never been this exciting. Edgar, the banker, goes on a philosophical journey and a literal one. A well-to-do businessman from the suburbs commuting to the megalopolis of Babylon. But surely, there is more to life than the golden calf he bows down to. Perhaps it is ill-begotten to use people unscrupulously to maximize profits. But what does Edgar care, after all, "I got mine!" Sadly, or perhaps happily, Edgar is on a grand exploration. This pilgrimage is faithfully recorded in poetic grandeur. Terrific poetry here tantalizing the ear. Images burst like supernovas. Unforgettable characters. So go buy that one-way ticket and let's travel by the old humming steel rail. Kick back in your seat and enjoy the passing scenery. Bells and Whistles, Thorns and Thistles poetry for the coming new age!
