Fixing Route 46

Fixing Route 46

The state got plans to fix

The traffic on route forty six

All the engineers got to say

Is make sure we get out pay

Ever make love to a block

It don’t sing it don’t rock

Comes with a real high price

Love is the sacrifice

Now that ain’t right

They’ll be using all their tricks

Fixing Route forty six

Get up at four to go to Philly

The whole situation in silly

Count the cars where the bums awake

Don’t know how much I can take

They say God will provide

And God is on our side

But how can you tell

When we live in hell

Love is the sacrifice

Now that ain’t right

They’ll be using all their tricks

Fixing Route forty six

We’ll do our job and not retreat

If we loose we won’t admit defeat

We can always blame the other guy

It’s all about money and greed is why

Ever make love to a brick

The whole process is sick

Comes with a forked tongue

Deceives the simple and the young

Love is the sacrifice

Now that ain’t right

They’ll be using all their tricks

Fixing Route forty six

The homeless used to live in the trees

With the sprites and gnomes and fairies

Soon they’ll be done on route forty six

Whole thing just makes me sick

Fixing Route forty six

She Writes A Poem

She Writes A Poem

Heart in hand emotions think

Appropriately pen of red ink

Her thoughts

Fragments

Segments

Caught

Like morning dew upon a spider’s web

Fragilely swaying

In the gentle breeze

Spider nervously twitching all eight legs

A reader a rat in the maze

The provolone of imagery

The cheddar of symbolism

The Muenster of mystery

As the reader meanders

Through tricky turns

Dead end after dead end

Never to comprehend

The cryptic meaning

In between

The scribbled lines

But alas all is fine

Such is the curse

Of free verse

Tell me words of wisdom

Show me a magical kingdom

I want to connect

To unite

To know in confidence

I am not alone in the night

A watchman

Waiting for dawn

The faintest ray

Of the new day

But alas

Black clouds of obscurity pass

She writes a poem

In body and mind

And I am being kind

I Loved A Woman

I Loved A Woman

I was searching churches for something divine

I heard about love and I wanted mine

There was your face a picture of grace

Singing a hymn it was grim in this place

I loved a woman she made me rejoice

I loved a woman and oh what a voice

I loved a woman it seemed the thing to do

I loved a woman and she was you

Rocketship ready and it’s all systems go

We’re headed wherever the wind will blow

It’s just the two of us off into infinity

I hear the view on Jupitar’s real pretty

I loved a woman she made me rejoice

I loved a woman and oh what a voice

I loved a woman it seemed the thing to do

I loved a woman and she was you

In class we were reading First Samuel in Greek

It’s always better to think before you speak

The fluent poet chimes in perfect rhymes

You stole my heart the foulest of crimes

I loved a woman she made me rejoice

I loved a woman and oh what a voice

I loved a woman it seemed the thing to do

I loved a woman and she was you

The economy is collapsing fascism is on the rise

The myth of superiority is merely complicated lies

I’m the son of the son of an immigrant Pole

Rock and Roll is the expression of your soul

If I asked you to marry me what would you say?

We could head for the hills right now today

Under the Grand Canyon are temples of gold

My fantasy is you and me together growing old

I loved a woman she made me rejoice

I loved a woman and oh what a voice

I loved a woman it seemed the thing to do

I loved a woman and she was you

Mumia

Mumia

Mumia lives in a place that should not exist

A result of a mockery they call a trial

The world proclaims injustice, many insist

Still the system is in defiant denial

I do not glory in the death of any man

Yet how much can we take?

We rise against oppression to do the best we can

Day after day you inflict us with your lies

The cause for justice we will never forsake

Allmighty God, He hears our cries

Allmighty God, Him you cannot fool

Or shut him out with your actions cruel

So Mumia lives, three stone walls and an iron gate

These are the manifestations of America’s hate

When you want us to kill for the flag we are brothers all

Come serve your country that is the call

And in return you make us sit and wait

Herded in your ghettos you try to educate

And when we act on the lessons you teach

When we speak our mind and practice free speech

You send in the police, the FBI and CIA

And heroes like Mumia are taken away

An honest day in court

Is what we require

That would retort

And quench this fire

Instead Mumia sits condemned on death row

In a tormented existence that few do know

A political prisoner an unwilling symbol

You can bind the man but not the soul

Mumia these words I write

And promise never to give up the fight

A Poet's Peace

A Poet's Peace

I perceive, therefore I mourn, my spirit torn, a new life reborn

Waves of light, shine bright as shimmering leaves of trees in the breeze

I color outside of the lines and quite often not even in the book

Life is never black and white, I always take more than one look

The ink used to create this poem is the blood from my veins

In the asylum robbed of freedom, torment fermented my brains

I was drunk on righteous thoughts, caught in messiah syndrome

Mother Earth cried in anguish, beseeching for personal redemption

My mind rotted by clicks of whispering memories, too evil to mention

I was a Navajo a billion years ago and knew the secrets of the universe

But man, violated the plan and creation was subjugated to a curse

The water broke, I awoke, I trembled in utter terror as I heard the Word spoke

In exaltation I cried "I Am here to liberate you" but everybody thought it was a joke

Padded walls and straight jackets, psychiatric hospitals little more than rackets

Thorazine shuffle, thoughts they muzzle, a few pieces missing from the puzzle

Committed to the cause, committed by their laws, a danger to society

Meanwhile merchants of death massacre masses efficiently, proficiently

Dare not question or mention the absurd contradiction

Serve the institute, salute the flag, they're always looking for a raw recruit

But Love touched me as a gentle rain on a parched land coveting relief

In my helpless state of dire need I could forsake hatred and greed

Four stars on the uniform or a business suit doesn't make you less of a thief

But on my journey, God turned me around and do you know what I found

In abandoning carnal desire and allowing the fire to inspire

In my mind I find I can be kind and even love my very enemy

You see when you release darkness and allow hatred to cease

If you truly believe you too shall achieve A Poet's Peace

Pieces Of Me

Pieces Of Me 2

Hand in hand on a midnight stroll

You kissed my lips touched my soul

Under the witness of infinity

You whispered softly

Take these pieces of me

Pieces of me a ring around the heart

No beginning no start

Pieces of me a ring around the heart

Pieces of me never to depart

I sailed the seas searching for what?

In each view never forgot

Even on the eternal sea

The wind spoke quietly

Take these pieces of me

Pieces of me a ring around the heart

No beginning no start

Pieces of me a ring around the heart

Pieces of me never to depart

Forever is something that is made

Red roses grow only to fade

Thorns remain I pray they depart

Can we my love make a new start?

Close enough to be vulnerable

Full of fear trembling wonderful

Tomorrow holds only promise

Sorrow to turn to bliss

Love’s fetters so shall it be

Take these pieces of me

Pieces of me a ring around the heart

No beginning no start

Pieces of me a ring around the heart

Pieces of me never to depart

Chaplain Harry’s Regret

 Chaplain Harry’s Regret

Harry Emerson Fosdick as a young man was an officer in the United States Army during World War I. In his capacity as chaplain he would pray with the soldiers who would attack the German machine gun nest. The majority of the soldiers would never return alive. In later life the preacher regretted this part of his past.

What I’d done I’d rather not say

We would gather

In the morn to start the day

How could a word to the Creator be ill?

I prayed for blessings to kill

I prayed for blessings to kill!

I prayed for blessings to kill

I would look the boys in their eyes

And fill their heads with lies

And say, “Boys do your best”

The machine gun nest they would attack

And most would not come back

I now walk the silent ground

Once filled with explosions and horrid sound

White crosses abound

Everywhere to be found

Lined neatly and precise row by row

Oh the secrets they know

I too was once young in age

My deeds recorded on eternal page

Yes I too was once the fool

The devil’s tool

What is war?

Once this green silent meadow

Was divided by two trenches defining no man’s land

War is Hell and nothing grand

It is humanity’s ugliest blight

And till this day fills me with fright

When I lay on my bed calm, serene and still

Recalling how I prayed for blessings to kill

I prayed for blessings to kill……

Into The Morning

Into The Morning

After making love

As the light from the hall

Faintly shines

A beacon of reality

Conflicting with my dreary dreams

I embrace your warm body

Secure in my arms

Deeply satisfied

For the moment, only for the moment

I have a secret

Encrypted in the language of stars

I am an astrologer

A seer of visions

A prophet of things yet to come

It haunts me

Like the satisfaction coursing through my bones

Wars and rumors of wars

The bitterest one

Fought in the psyche of my being

I weep for the children

Born for the slaughter

Who will never know a blue sky

Or be able to drink

From the refreshing fountains

Of God's green Earth

But you with your heavy breath

Are oblivious of the holocaust

On the horizon

Cannot you read the signs of the times?

Am I the only one not blind?

Or is denial such a potent aphrodisiac

And all the wise men

Subtly seduced

The System

 The System

Pyramids of chiseled stones, crushing the bones, of the Hebrew slaves

Pyramids, Pharaohs' graves, home of the dead, created by anguish

Under the sweltering sun, the work is never done, death the only finish

In Manhattan, spires scrape the sky, above the dim cry of the working class

Wall Street, Bull Market, Baal is their Lord, mammon their reward

Tombs of doom, Zombies of the apocalypse, savagely kiss the empress

Defined as cruel, the Queen of Fools, in darkness she rules

The number of the beast, mocks the least, Satan cackles at his feast

They fornicate in brutal hate, devouring the blood of the common man

Calm waters run deep, the believer can keep what he has promised

For liars never realize that doom shall consume, a rancorous perfume

Ideals, they are real, a vision one cannot steal, take, break or shake

Systems come and systems go look at once mighty Egypt if you want to know

Egypt, a third world player, the construction of pyramids has now ceased

Powers rise and powers fall, a surge of a sentimental sorrow released

Greed is a cancer, an addict needing another hit, producing paradise counterfeit

Insanity inflicts vanity, you curse profanity, when one comes with humble truth

You shall know the deal, when we shall steal, your very youth

For we have wisdom to change the system it is happening now as we speak

Never confuse humility for being weak, soon we shall peak, all is not bleak

There is tremendous power in turning the other cheek

We are the star, you tarry near and far, in desire it is us you seek

Barry No Moore

 Barry No Moore

School boy infatuation

Lost over a Richard M. Nixon rubber mask

Stretching the prominent nose

Flabbergasted at the elastic recoil upon release

A metaphor on life

Norma called

In a round about diplomacy she declared

Our comrade Barry is dead

He’s better off was the diagnosis

WTF?

Was Kissinger correct in his fascist arrogance?

Masturbating in lustful ego and influence

Time Magazine stained in the White House bathroom

Tricky Dick and Sticky Dick

Here’s a suggestion in memory of our dearly love departed

Herd together the entire collection of despots

And their spineless cohorts whispering sweet nothings of vile

No true warrior celebrates glory in death

Unless their humanity has been X’d

Like John Chivington and his cousin in killing Custard

Take a group Polaroid

After it is fully developed in techno color

Strike a match and set it ablaze

Just cause you can

Use claws of justice to shred the smug mocking mask

Of the sinister superior Nietzsche charged super man

Observe a tormented toddler

Wounded beyond point of view

Never to comprehend

The most precious words

I love you

Like Barry would pronounce

But no longer

He is fading fast into forgetfulness

Unless in irony in future days of radiant glory

Inquiring minds come across this pome

English a vanquished dead language

Babylon banished

Tyre toppled

And all the proponents of genocide meager ashes

The darkening of the face of humanity washed clean

As we pronounce bold words in caution

We walked the winding way once before

Of whom Barry was one

Demand in meekness

No more

May all wars cease

Then Barry

You may rest in peace

One you participated to create

Where Love rules over hate

Blues Lady

 Blues Lady

I’m a blues lady this is my song

I’m a blues lady don’t get me wrong

Cleopatra she ain’t got nothing on me

I’m a blues lady and I’ll always be

I’m a blues lady this is my verse

Life could be better life could be worse

On the cross Jesus became a curse

I’m a blues lady this is my verse

I’m a blues lady these are my words

I’m a blues lady I will be heard

I’m a blues lady righteously proud

I’ll sing my song I’ll sing it loud

I cry with Moses set my people free

I cry with Black Elk for the lonesome Cherokee

I never stopped singing we shall overcome

I’m a blues lady I know where I’m from

I’m a blues lady of African birth

I’m a blues lady queen of the Earth

You stole my mother from the Promised Land

I’m a blues lady don’t you understand?

I’m a blues lady this is my song

I’m a blues lady don’t get me wrong

Cleopatra she ain’t got nothing on me

I’m a blues lady and I’ll always be

The Wind

The Wind

Who taught the wind to blow?

Do you know?
Was it the birds?
Was it the trees?
That’s not what I heard
Could you tell me please?

Who taught the sun to shine?
Its warmth and beauty so fair
It’s not yours it’s not mine
It’s for all to share

Who taught the rain how to fall?
To bring life to one and all

Isn’t it plain to see?
It was the God of Eternity
