Life exploding
Flies a buzz
Mosquitoes too, we hear them
hum
Wind passing through the
leaves
Birds sing their songs
Woodpeckers steady tapping
Pricklers, we stay away from
the sharp thorns
Squirrels leaping in the high
branches of the trees
A woodchuck in caution
peering cautiously at us
We roll over a rotted log
Centipedes, millipedes scurry
We gaze upon the treasured
salamander
He is curiously beautiful to
us
The creeks water ripples
We cross stepping on stones
Cautiously we traverse hoping
not to get our feet wet
Minnows, goldfish, tadpoles
swim
Frogs croak, startled they
leap
A turtle darts by
In the distant we gaze upon a
deer
A precious creature of
extravagant beauty
Small white flowers grow
among crab grass
Crashing bulldozers come
And make everything flat
The sign boasts of a new
development
Civilization!
What was is no more
We walked the newly created
muddy wasteland
