Jesus In A Plastic Bottle

Jesus In A Plastic Bottle

I love Amerikkka it’s the land of the free

Never mind genocide and chattel slavery

God is smiling giving us two big thumbs up

Hey darling get beer it’s time to fill the cup

I’ll have Jesus in a plastic bottle

With a little Plato and Aristotle

Put the spaceship full throttle

I’ll have Jesus in a plastic bottle

Remember that Jesus turned water into wine

So Saturday night drinking is simply divine

Thou shall not kill that means abortion is wrong

War and the death penalty’s a different song

I’ll have Jesus in a plastic bottle

With a little Plato and Aristotle

Put the spaceship full throttle

I’ll have Jesus in a plastic bottle

The good reverend speaks to God one on one

He’s downstairs with the choir girls having some fun

Them priests like the chief seats at the feasts for sure

Here come the altar boys I bet they’re gonna score

I’ll have Jesus in a plastic bottle

With a little Plato and Aristotle

Put the spaceship full throttle

I’ll have Jesus in a plastic bottle

I read the Bible and tore out all the passages that weren’t right

Don’t judge me but I’ll be telling you your sins with delight

Let’s hate everybody who’s got the mark of Cain

Love your enemy that sounds like your totally insane

God bless the poor souls but keep them in the hood

I may not be a perfect ten but still I’m good

Accept Jesus into your heart say that prayer

Then you can sin time and time again without care

I’ll have Jesus in a plastic bottle

With a little Plato and Aristotle

Put the spaceship full throttle

I’ll have Jesus in a plastic bottle

Fourth of July

Fourth of July

It came winter twenty below

Sky was weeping virgin snow

The sun was hidden by cloudy skies

But I saw a light in your eyes

A look that would never die

In your heart is the Fourth of July

Well the years came and the years went

So much time how did it get spent

I left my home town hit the road

Finding a way to loosen my load

I left you alone I know not why

In your heart is the Fourth of July

I had many lovers that is true

But none could compare to you

I remember your wiggling walk

And the sexy way that you talk

You are the best it’s no lie

In your heart is the Fourth of July

I remember the night at the lake

It was cold you began to quake

We lit ourselves a blazing fire

But you turned the heat on higher

We made Love as I gazed in the sky

In your heart is the Fourth of July

I called your house the other day

Your momma said that you went way

She said you married a rock star

And that you were gone real far

I hung up and began to cry

In your heart is the Fourth of July

Mulatto Queen

Mulatto Queen

Loveliest thing you've ever seen

Sweet, sweet mulatto queen

A woman caught in between

In a harsh solitary scene

For she is far from white

A disgrace in proper society's sight

Nor is she kin

To those of darker skin

For though she is a slave as well

She is favored, all can tell

Master with his lustful ways

Lavishes her with endless praise

Her teary blue eyes

Always tell

The living hell

When she is made to compromise

Life is a complicated

Never loved, constantly hated

Unsure where to dwell

Always made to sell

If she refuses to stay in line

Master will retaliate

If she makes things fine

It is something she does hate

A mistress to a married man

Without a voice

Without a choice

She does the best she can

Only happy when she's in a dream

Mulatto queen

Progress

 Progress

Forest

A green dream

Life exploding

Flies a buzz

Mosquitoes too, we hear them hum

Wind passing through the leaves

Birds sing their songs

Woodpeckers steady tapping

Pricklers, we stay away from the sharp thorns

Squirrels leaping in the high branches of the trees

A woodchuck in caution peering cautiously at us

We roll over a rotted log

Centipedes, millipedes scurry

We gaze upon the treasured salamander

He is curiously beautiful to us

The creeks water ripples

We cross stepping on stones

Cautiously we traverse hoping not to get our feet wet

Minnows, goldfish, tadpoles swim

Frogs croak, startled they leap

A turtle darts by

In the distant we gaze upon a deer

A precious creature of extravagant beauty

Small white flowers grow among crab grass

Crashing bulldozers come

And make everything flat

The sign boasts of a new development

Civilization!

What was is no more

We walked the newly created muddy wasteland

Shock, horror, grief

The have a euphemism for it

Progress

We leave there is another sign saying in bright orange letters

“NO TRESSPASSING”

Sings say a lot without noise

Holland Lop Rabbits

 Holland Lop Rabbits

by John Kaniecki

Rabbits big, rabbits small
I love them all
But the rabbit I find most fine
Is the Holland Lop Rabbit divine
Fuzzy
Tiny
Hold them in your hand
Then you'll understand
How grand
They are
Catch a ride on a shooting star
Play some chords on a guitar
Holland Lop Rabbits by far
Are
The sweetest thing I know
And I just said so

Cheating In Nevada

 Cheating In Nevada

In Nevada with hot desert sands

There's a law everyone understands

It's an unrighteous, ungodly sin

The house always has to win

Now take heed as I mention

The Democratic convention

When the wheel was still in turn

The delegates came to learn

A premature choice had been made

Despite the people's voices being raised

Yelling, screaming, calling shame

Unfair, injustice, we proclaim

See the establishment, lie, cheat and steal

From the bottom of the deck they deal

And to make all protest cease

They called out the police

What happened to our democracy?

Are we headed towards Nazi Germany?

Now people we got ourselves a mission

A political exhibition

A righteous revolution

A permanent solution

In November express your concern

Vote so all will feel the Bern

Crimelda

 Crimelda

Crimelda was the fairest of the fair

A vixen with whom none could compare

Many a dark night in musing thought

My sweet Crimelda I had caught

But morning always brought despair

As my dreams vanished into air

And Crimelda whom I held so dear

Was never near

In life Crimelda had no time for me

I was an undertaker sad and lonely

My job was humble, vile and grim

And then there was of course him

The one who stole Crimelda’s heart

The one I envied longing for his part

He was Michael a handsome lad

It seemed laughter he always had

And his father was a man of money

And thus Michael captivated my honey

Time passed for it has no choice

To Crimelda I dared not raise my voice

Not even a good morning or a hello

Though I truly loved her so

And Michael adorned her with attention

In a million ways too many to mention

And Crimelda she seemed happy in life

To one day become Michael’s wife

But fate is cruel in many ways

And Crimelda was cut short in her days

The plague inflicted her soul

And festering sores took control

From rotting flesh Michael fled

And soon Crimelda was dead

There was no funeral for the lass

The village was glad for her to pass

For despite Crimelda being so dear

The sickness brought panic and fear

And I in my lonesome role

Gained Crimelda’s body in my control

At last I had gained my greatest desire

But Crimelda’s body was destined for fire

For only flames would purge the ill

But such was not my will

I played myself a clever ruse

Another corpse I did use

And thus Crimelda’s body was spared

To risk it all, yes I dared

If the whole world died I cared not

I was an outcast one forgot

So Crimelda found a home brand new

I was in heaven yes it was true

But soon hell broke its chains

The village was inflicted with pains

A baby was stillborn the color blue

Others got fevers the sickness grew

The wise doctor was humbled to a fool

But the village deserved their fate so cruel

For I was long ridiculed and mocked

When I confessed the truth how they were shocked

In a roar they arose to investigate

I was bound and gagged with utter hate

The deed was so foul they thought I lied

But the truth could not be denied

As a swarm of locusts they descended

I fathomed my time had ended

Bursting down my door they entered in

Only to hear curses full of sin

“That hell of an undertaker”

“He is one royal joker, a true faker”

And I was released to be free

For truly my house it was empty

Perplexed I wondered of their find

Had it been that I lost my mind

For Crimelda was nowhere to be seen

What in heaven’s name did it mean?

So late that night I lay on bed

Crimelda was there in my head

Lovely as in the prime of her youth

Until then I discovered the truth

I heard a knocking upon my door

In fright I stalled, but it came some more

With caution I opened the portal

To view the most wonderful soul

There Crimelda stood shining in grace

A wicked smile encompassed her face

For silent moments did she linger

Then she beckoned with a skeletal finger

I had no will I could but obey

I wanted to speak but found no word to say

We walked into the night under the moon

The cricket and owls sung an eerie tune

The two of us we made no sound

We walked together in familiar ground

Into the cemetery that I held so dear

For once it struck me with greatest fear

Together Crimelda led with no hesitation

I knew for certain our destination

It was to the tombstone that bore her name

I pondered what was my true love’s game?

At the sight of the grave our journey did cease

I read the marker saying ‘rest in peace’

Then I finally came and understood

I did evil though I meant only good

For though I loved Crimelda the best

I had deprived her of her blessed rest

For truly I should have rightfully known

That heaven would have been Crimelda’s home

In truth with saddest words I tell

In my desire I had delivered hell

But why I wondered such a long delay

And what perchance was the price to pay

For keeping one so fair from paradise

Then cold wind blew and my soul it did slice

I then understood my part

That I had truly captured Crimelda’s heart

That from a distance she loved me from far

And my broken heart burst from the scar

The wound roared and raged

On the day Crimelda and Michael were engaged

For Crimelda’s family were meek and poor

How could I not see the truth before?

She came Crimelda and planted a kiss

I felt rapture and a thrilling bliss

Darkness twirled inside of my head

And of the matter there is nothing more said

For Crimelda had inflicted her pillage

On the lonesome and wicked village

Who allowed true love to perish

For Crimelda in her last wish

Prayed a prayer that we be wed

And thus happily I joined the world of the dead

I Shall Rise

I Shall Rise

Meat and bones dollars and cents he takes a chance

Here’s a dollar baby do you do more than dance?

Sparkling eyes tomorrow dies in yes and no

Let’s make the trick quick I gotta do a show

I’ve been cheated by men full of greed

They take and take but have no need

But I shall rise you can’t keep me down

I shall rise you can’t deny my crown

My past of a fool fuels the rocket to fly

I declare beware I ain’t gonna take a lie

Look hear mister I got my fighting shoes on

Have no sad tear sweet sister my life ain’t gone

I’ve been cheated by men full of greed

They take and take but have no need

But I shall rise you can’t keep me down

I shall rise you can’t deny my crown

On La Rue Avenue there’s a comic store

Batman and the Joker fight in eternal war

Can you sleep at night sir that’s the real score?

It’s easy to get high but it’s hard to soar

I’ve been cheated by men full of greed

They take and take but have no need

But I shall rise you can’t keep me down

I shall rise you can’t deny my crown

Scum of the Earth Jesus died for you

What is your worth one and one is two

The calculus of capitalism is pain

Like a crook you took from the insane

Let me explain you’re a carnal crook vain

There’s a cop waiting to stop your red corvette

You’re a real prince but even the kings regret

I’m going in the dungeon to find my gold

Life is a tale and the future’s still untold

I’ve been cheated by men full of greed

They take and take but have no need

But I shall rise you can’t keep me down

I shall rise you can’t deny my crown

Davis 305

Davis 305

Chasing the dragon. Having a six pack of Old Swills and a few hits of reefer in preparation; except we never called it reefer only marijuana and pot. So unable to face reality soberly we self medicate and take another step into the great oblivion. As we stare up at the crescent moon confident no human being ever came close to landing on it. The orchestration of lies well that’s the Dragon’s grand design. He allows you to chase him not out of fear. Rather you embolden yourselves to merge deeper into the darkness. So when your pathetic lives slip into monotony and the emptiness is complete you can always remember those gold old days. Davis 305 huh Ed? Yes sir, salute the hierarchy because you own a nice house and have a wife who gave you a few little ones. Meanwhile the world is plummeting in a spiral as the hungry jaws of the abyss lie gaping open lubricated with the lustful drool of desire. Getting wasted. A black celebration. I come to you once more in the spirit of freshness and vitality. The cool spring breeze shall fill your sails as you journey to the land of purpose and fulfillment. I am a soldier in the army of the Lord. I was once one with the void. I have surrendered mind, body and soul. In giving all I attained all. So with the entire universe in my hand I gently toss it into the collection plate a free will offering to the God of Love.

My Decision

 My Decision

(An chapter from CAN I GET A WITNESS)

Becoming a Christian was the best decision that I have ever made in my life. I want to show the dynamics of my conversion. Everybody’s decision of faith comes about differently but I am sure there are also similarities.

First and foremost I was convinced that Jesus Christ was the Son Of God. This conviction came solely from the reading of the Bible, in particular the New Testament. In fact I hadn’t even read the Old Testament when I was baptized. My friend Frank always liked to rave about a book he read called, “Lord, Lunatic or Liar.” I never read it but Frank may have given me a copy of it. The basic premise of the book is that if you dissect Jesus’ words there are only three conclusions that you can come to. That he is either the Lord or a lunatic or a liar. I believed He was the Lord.

Secondly Frank’s Bible studies taught me the plan of salvation at least in a primitive form. The study he shared with me was something he developed as an offshoot from his experience with the International Church of Christ. I can’t remember much of it. However I did discover a study when I was searching in the basement. I had to laugh at the simplicity. The study presented a scripture and then there was a question regarding the scriptures. Then four answers were presented making it multiple choice test. I recall reading a question, “When the Eunuch heard the gospel how did he respond?” One of the answers was to say the sinner’s prayer, another was of course baptism.

Frank also used the book of Joshua to help me understand the nature of the gospel. It just so happened that we were studying the book of Joshua in Bible study at the time. In particular we talked about the walls of Jericho falling. God gave Israel what seemed to be some outrageous and illogical commands. They were to silently walk around the city day after day and then on the final day shout. Israel obeyed God’s command and they were successful. The principle is that if God commands you to do it then we are to obey, even though it doesn’t make sense. So getting immersed in water for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit, (Acts 2:38) might not make sense to us but it is what the Bible teaches. Now I understand that at baptism we join Jesus on the cross and the blood washes us from our sins, Romans 6. (We will look at this in depth using scriptures.)

Thirdly I had a lot of people who were great Christian influences in my life. They were warm and accepting and showed me genuine Love. I cannot overemphasize the importance of this. If the Love wasn’t present I may not have accepted Christ.

I had announced to Frank that I had planned to hitchhike across the country. So what he did was teach two studies on one night. I believe it was a Thursday. As a result of the studies I was convicted that I needed to get baptized. My motivation was to get my business right with God and to do what He wanted in my life. I remember driving to Patty’s apartment who was Frank’s girlfriend at the time. I was praying with all my might that I wouldn’t die along the way. When I got to Patty’s the bathtub was full of water waiting for me. I was baptized.

Frank said something to the effect, “When you got baptized you shoulder wasn’t under but it doesn’t matter.” This statement always pricked at my heart from time to time. I certainly didn’t believe I wasn’t a Christian. My life had drastically changed for the better. However from time to time, the devil would torment me with those haunting words. Then I said to myself, ‘why are you being so foolish?’ I simply went into the water once more making sure I was completely buried in the water. Now all doubt is settled in my mind about my baptism.

Three important things happen at baptism. As we mentioned before one’s sins are forgiven and the new Christian receives the gift of the Holy Spirit, Acts 2:38. The third is that the person is reborn and enters the kingdom of heaven, or the Church of Christ. “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God,” John 3:5. No matter what the age of the Christian they are a babe in Christ spiritually immature.

Babies of course must be treated with special care. If ever a Christian needed the love and the support of the congregation after baptism is the moment. The presence of a young Christian should make us use our tongue with care, especially when talking about others and church problems. A new Christina needs to be fed with milk and not meat. The Bible in Hebrews 6:1-2 defines what milk is. “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,  Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.”

Even if you do your best to help a new Christian some are going to leave the faith, it is what scripture teaches. Luke 8 depicts the conversion process as planting seeds in four different soils. The first seed lands on the way side and there is no conversion. That is the person who doesn’t believe. The second falls on the rock. These people start to grow but have no root. They eventually fall away. The third group falls among thorns. These grow but are eventually choked by the cares and riches and pleasures in life. Only the last group consisting of those with a ‘good and honest heart’ hears the word and keeps it bringing fruit, so based on that if one out of three people remain faithful you are doing well.

Mind you that it is not your position to determine who is a genuine Christian and who is going to fall away. Some of the strongest Christians I know had a shaky start in their faith. Personally, several months after my baptism, I was committed to a psychiatric hospital. I am very glad not everybody gave up on me. Also you have to understand that not everybody in the church is a genuine Christian. Mathew 13 depicts the ‘kingdom of heaven’ as being full of wheat and tares. The wheat is the children of God and the tares are the children of the devil. Over time it may become evident as to which member is wheat and which member is a tare. People are known by their fruit. So we can go to Galatians chapter 5 and see the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. Those who do evil are for the devil and those who do good are for God. But we are not to judge, that is Jesus job. We don’t know the heart. The parable of the ‘wheat and tares’ commands us to let them grow together. At the harvest, or Judgment Day they will be separated. The reason giving is that if we pull up some tares we might inadvertently pull up some wheat in the process. Also when wheat and tares are young they are indistinguishable in appearance when compared to the wheat. Best policy is Love everybody and hope for the best.
