Fourth of July

Fourth of July

It came winter twenty below

Sky was weeping virgin snow

The sun was hidden by cloudy skies

But I saw a light in your eyes

A look that would never die

In your heart is the Fourth of July

Well the years came and the years went

So much time how did it get spent

I left my home town hit the road

Finding a way to loosen my load

I left you alone I know not why

In your heart is the Fourth of July

I had many lovers that is true

But none could compare to you

I remember your wiggling walk

And the sexy way that you talk

You are the best it’s no lie

In your heart is the Fourth of July

I remember the night at the lake

It was cold you began to quake

We lit ourselves a blazing fire

But you turned the heat on higher

We made Love as I gazed in the sky

In your heart is the Fourth of July

I called your house the other day

Your momma said that you went way

She said you married a rock star

And that you were gone real far

I hung up and began to cry

In your heart is the Fourth of July

I Will Raise My Voice

I Will Raise My Voice (My first poem every publish by Tim Hall of Struggle Magazine)

David Smith he was a good friend of mine

He worked next to me on the assembly line

He said his goal was to set man free

I won’t sell my soul to the factory

Oh yes my name is David Smith

I’ll give my life if it comes down to it

And as we worked all day long

He would softly sing this song

I will raise my voice until they hear

I will raise my voice I’ll have no fear

I will raise my voice both day and night

I will raise my voice till they see the light

After work sometimes we would go to the café

Dave would speak wonders of a better day

Capitalism is crazy with greed insane

The rich get richer the poor get pain

But the workers one day will unite

And the workers will make it right

And between drinks of domestic beer

A soft song I would hear clear

I will raise my voice until they hear

I will raise my voice I’ll have no fear

I will raise my voice both day and night

I will raise my voice till they see the light

Well Dave hated the union he hated the job

He hated the rich and he hated the mob

I don’t know who but some one did poor Dave in

When I heard I cursed and said what a sin

And when I was at the grave saying goodbye

I just couldn’t help but to cry

And as they lowered him in the ground

The wind blew a familiar sound

I will raise my voice until they hear

I will raise my voice I’ll have no fear

I will raise my voice both day and night

I will raise my voice till they see the light

Edgar and the Hard Facts of Life

Edgar and the Hard Facts of Life

At the train station

SUN peeping in the SKY

Edgar has a sensation!

To end it all and die

And he don’t know why,

                                      And he don’t know why,

And he don’t know why,

His whole life is a               LIE

But he’s getting bye

And as the TRAIN comes near

There’s great tension and FEAR

That he’ll JUMP ahead

Before the TRAIN

And wind up DEAD

                                FUTILE AND VAIN

Poor Edgar sold his soul

For an office with a view

But he’s miserable

Doesn’t even have a clue

His fundamental flaw

He dare not mention

For he is in AWE

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY

He pimps out his mind

Life left him behind

Of that he is sure

Poet to the Poor

 Poet to the Poor

Who will be the poet to the poor

For the abused, used, confused

Who aren't even aware

They have a hope and a prayer

Who will be the poet to the poor

Rich man's writer is but a whore

Producing propaganda for war

Or marketing merchandise to sell more

Who will be the poet to the poor

It's what these words are for

Southern Lights

Southern Lights

When the whole world’s coming down on you

The sky in your soul’s no longer blue

Heaven tells love’s story in the night

All right you’re all right

Southern lights

We sit and watch the southern lights

Gazing up we’re lost in delight

Southern lights

We sit and watch the southern lights

Magical holding tight

Dreams are the currency of the heart

A little from each we do our part

One day truth and love shall reunite

All right it’s all right

Southern lights

We sit and watch the southern lights

Gazing up we’re lost in delight

Southern lights

We sit and watch the southern lights

Magical holding tight

There is a grace beyond this temporal space

Searching the universe finding God’s face

The Southern Lights a melody of the muse

If you need a friend I’ll help pay your dues

Hold my hand as we walk through this time

A perfect echo giving off rhyme

Come here dear lady I’ll be your knight

All right you’re all right

Southern lights

We sit and watch the southern lights

Gazing up we’re lost in delight

Southern lights

We sit and watch the southern lights

Magical holding tight

More Than A Prayer

 More Than A Prayer

There is no dreamy home on the Caribbean Sea

No pleasant ride in the sunset for you and me

I weep over the things that could have been

More than death are the wages of our sin

I can’t give you more than a prayer

And to hold your hand with care

I can’t give you more than a prayer

And be by your side as you lie there

Dementia is the dance darling you’re center stage

We’re at the end of the book near the final page

I cry in the long goodbye asking ‘Why?’

God in His wisdom gives me no reply

I can’t give you more than a prayer

And to hold your hand with care

I can’t give you more than a prayer

And be by your side as you lie there

I remember all the good times grateful for the day

In this trip called life the ticket’s only one way

God may be Love but tell me is He fair?

Blaspheming billionaires live with no care

I can’t give you more than a prayer

And to hold your hand with care

I can’t give you more than a prayer

And be by your side as you lie there

Everyone has a hustle everyone wants another buck

They promise happy bliss and wish you good luck

In the end a friend is the one who stands by your side

I remember Jesus so lonely when he was crucified

So sweet Sylvia death will come to swallow you up

With one big swallow the reaper empties your cup

I’ll go one when your gone such is this life

Goodbye lover friend goodbye dear wife

I can’t give you more than a prayer

And to hold your hand with care

I can’t give you more than a prayer

And be by your side as you lie there
