A Kid's Face

 A Kid's Face

by John Kaniecki

Kelly Thomas had a kid's face

Showed up at the wrong place

Kelly Thomas had a kid's mind

Society had left him behind

Schizophrenia is a harsh disease

But Kelly Thomas was at ease

Until the big man in blue

Said what he intended to do

Police wanted him to move

Police had something to prove

It was plain for all to see

Police brutality

Kelly Thomas had a kid's face

Angelic and pure

Kelly Thomas had a kid's face

But not any more

They say that this is a civilization of law

But America has a tragic flaw

Cause dogs in blue with authority

Have their own brutal reality

Beating a man with no worry

Crying as he's dying

I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry

Gasping in desperate despair

That he can't get any air

Finally crying for his dad

They knew Kelly Thomas was crazy mad

But they didn't care at all

Then they lied about it all

Well Kelly Thomas had his day in court

And I am so sad to report

The jury said there was no wrong done

The jury said there was no wrong done

It's easy when it ain't your son

Kelly Thomas had a kid's face

Angelic in it's glow

Kelly Thomas had a kid's face

But now it ain't so

Victory

 Victory

We shall walk together

Marching as if one

We shall walk together

Until victory is won

Down the narrow way

God guide us we pray

Sharing our burden

Until victory is won

Holding our cross high

We are willing to die

Give glory to the Son

For the victory won

We shall walk together

Love will conquer hate

We shall walk together

Through heaven’s gate

We shall walk together

Marching as if one

We shall walk together

Until victory is won

Dollar Bill Refugee

 Dollar Bill Refugee

Tent city we’re living under the highway

The well to do wish we’d just go away

If Jesus was on Earth he’d kick back down here

Instead we’re fed with looks of fear

I’m a dollar bill refugee

The landlord put one over on me

A victim of the economy

I’m a dollar bill refugee

At the mission house you get a hot meal

A full belly and a prayer what a deal

God in His great wisdom puts you through a test

All of us poor we’re doubly blessed

I’m a dollar bill refugee

The landlord put one over on me

A victim of the economy

I’m a dollar bill refugee

And poetry my friend won’t pay the rent

While John’s in the city crying repent

Whispers of revolution vibrate in the air

As billionaires laugh without care

I’m a dollar bill refugee

The landlord put one over on me

A victim of the economy

I’m a dollar bill refugee

Bombs are falling made in the U.S.A.

More death and taxes coming your way

All our young march with a gun in their hand

Zombie apocalypse legions of the damned

The American dream oppression of the poor

Jails overflowing we’re ever knowing war

It’s only business so don’t take it to heart

Hustling bustling now do your part

I’m a dollar bill refugee

The landlord put one over on me

A victim of the economy

I’m a dollar bill refugee

Mister Wilson

 Mister Wilson

Hey Mister Wilson all numbers have their sum

And hey Mister Wilson they play the numbers in the slum

A Salvation Army banding piping we shall overcome

Hey Mister Wilson please tell me what have you done

Mister Wilson you’re a man on the rise

Life is truth and your truth is lies

Mister Wilson you’re a man on the rise

Mister Wilson you’re the devil in disguise

A world away you play with digits on the screen

When you don’t see the tears the evil don’t seem so mean

Welfare mothers kicking back with the brothers in the hood

In a black and white world color is misunderstood

Mister Wilson you’re a man on the rise

Life is truth and your truth is lies

Mister Wilson you’re a man on the rise

Mister Wilson you’re the devil in disguise

Ghetto defenders with righteous pretenders romance and dance

Every child in the wild is a victim of circumstance

And Mister Wilson we know you’re a self-made man

But your rich father sure did lend a hand

Mister Wilson you’re a man on the rise

Life is truth and your truth is lies

Mister Wilson you’re a man on the rise

Mister Wilson you’re the devil in disguise

The roaches swarm immune to toxic chemical swarms

Rats larger than cats abuse and refuse to conform

Still the money flows and everybody knows just fine

That in this world of greed the green is bottom line

Truth be told Mister Wilson you’re lost as could be

You heart in the frost counting the cost of idolatry

Hell is a fire burning in a rage out of control

You’ve made the upper grade while losing your soul

Mister Wilson you’re a man on the rise

Life is truth and your truth is lies

Mister Wilson you’re a man on the rise

Mister Wilson you’re the devil in disguise

Rich Hippies

 Rich Hippies

Rich hippies so hip they’re following the master plan

Don’t worry Diane they’re doing the best they can

If the solution of revolution doesn’t come our way

It’s okay they can always rely on their four oh one k

Rich hippies stuck in the mud

All they wanna do is smoke bud

Bang their drums hear the thud

Rich hippies stuck in the mud

I’m packing up my stuff because of the eviction

We’re free in America I really love good fiction

Rich hippies boldly say they want peace love and understanding

Unless in the cause they break laws and life’s too demanding

Rich hippies stuck in the mud

All they wanna do is smoke bud

Bang their drums hear the thud

Rich hippies stuck in the mud

There’s a wrecking ball smashing what’s left of the sixty’s dream

We chant we sing and when really upset we let out a scream

I don’t hate I just advocate seizing the means of production

Come on you rich hippies this is your introduction

Rich hippies stuck in the mud

All they wanna do is smoke bud

Bang their drums hear the thud

Rich hippies stuck in the mud

Rockefeller wasn’t a nice fellow he’s with Hitler in Hell

The stink of the fumes consumes rich hippies as well

Sell all that you possess and give it to the poor

Jesus Christ did more than just preach against war

Why don’t we get real and try to follow our ideals?

We’ll blow up the backroom so there ain’t no shady deals

See the rich hippies they’re dressed up in a tie dye shirt

Rich hippies are on the people’s side until it starts to hurt

Rich hippies stuck in the mud

All they wanna do is smoke bud

Bang their drums hear the thud

Rich hippies stuck in the mud

From Way Back When

From Way Back When

I have a hundred books I’ve never read

And millions of words left unsaid

I wish I could write a hit song blue and true

I wish I could just say out loud I love you

And the Jones’s are moving in

The commies are at it again

I believe in God and sin

Oh play that song from way back when

I’m way past my prime ain’t life just a crime

It’s easy to ignore my rhyme

Jimmy finally found his shaker of salt

Don’t point any fingers it’s all my damn fault

And the Jones’s are moving in

The commies are at it again

I believe in God and sin

Oh play that song from way back when

Oh I’m the man standing up for the cause

Pulling the levers controlling Oz

Happy Jack died and put me in ground control

You can have the world I’ll take a righteous soul

And the Jones’s are moving in

The commies are at it again

I believe in God and sin

Oh play that song from way back when

The sum of the parts makes the creative arts

The man from the band broke a million hearts

Mrs. Jones the devil has got his eyes on you

Keep me a kiss and promise to be forever true

If I could have learned to play the guitar

Heaven’s inside baby you’re a star

I’ll whisper these sacred words when we make love

Until then sweet friend you’re who I’m thinking of

And the Jones’s are moving in

The commies are at it again

I believe in God and sin

Oh play that song from way back when

Skinny Chickens

 Skinny Chickens

Skinny chickens are barking at the moon

Minnie Mouse is singing badly out of tune

On Calvary’s Hill they’re doing Vaudeville

Sex is wrong but God knows they love to kill

Skinny chickens pecking at the grain

If you ain’t got Love life is vain

Skinny chickens quoting Marx

Skinny chickens doing it in the dark

Skinny chickens doped up on valium

Pluto and Budha compete with wisdom

Jesus was woke well he can go to hell

Drag Queens make scenes saying nothing is well

Skinny chickens pecking at the grain

If you ain’t got Love life is vain

Skinny chickens quoting Marx

Skinny chickens doing it in the dark

Skinny chickens demand we all conform

Shine our boots bright and don a uniform

The coming winds of war a hurricane

Skinny chickens say they can feel your pain

Skinny chickens pecking at the grain

If you ain’t got Love life is vain

Skinny chickens quoting Marx

Skinny chickens doing it in the dark

Skinny chickens went on a rampage at the farm

They beat up Moo Moo the cow but didn’t mean harm

Skinny chickens coming to a theatre near you

Skinny chickens tell me what are you gonna do?

Walt’s body’s frozen for some future time

Skinny chickens sing but they hate to rhyme

Skinny chickens wearing painted on jeans

Skinny chickens they will corrupt your teens

Skinny chickens pecking at the grain

If you ain’t got Love life is vain

Skinny chickens quoting Marx

Skinny chickens doing it in the dark
