Hot Black Coffee and a Cigarette
Hot Black Coffee and a Cigarette
A thousand demos a day
All I can do is pray
When I rock and roll
It comes from the soul
I have sung them blues
Lived a life of bad news
Hot black coffee and a cigarette
How could life get better yet
Just enough to keep me going
Just enough to keep me growing
Hot black coffee and a cigarette
Looking for a soul to steal
The devil comes to make a deal
But I see through his disguise
Cause his words are only lies
The way Satan he function
He’ll take you to down to destruction
Hot black coffee and a cigarette
How could life get better yet
Just enough to keep me going
Just enough to keep me growing
Hot black coffee and a cigarette
Right now I’m below low
Up is the only way to go
Hitch hiking for a rocket
Only got three dollars in my pocket
But three will pay the toll
On the highway of Rock and Roll
Hot black coffee and a cigarette
How could life get better yet
Just enough to keep me going
Just enough to keep me growing
Hot black coffee and a cigarette
I see a light in the black night
I see a light burning green with delight
I hear a voice that always calls
I feel a hand that lifts as I fall
I may never make it to the top
But the truth is I’ll never stop
Hot black coffee and a cigarette
How could life get better yet
Just enough to keep me going
Just enough to keep me growing
Hot black coffee and a cigarette

A Mad Melody
A Mad Melody
When
thoughts melt into random waves
And
you’re sure that Jesus really saves
If
only you could escape to someplace warm
But
the worm in charge demands you conform
A
mad melody of the lock in the key
It’s
not jail but you’re far from free
Salute
the institute of psychiatry
A
mad melody of the lock in the key
Song
lyrics communicate secret thoughts
The
world is dying but you ain’t caught
Throw
away your money try to be free
Anarchy
is more than a philosophy
A
mad melody of the lock in the key
It’s
not jail but you’re far from free
Salute
the institute of psychiatry
A
mad melody of the lock in the key
I
could have been an engineer if I stayed away from the beer
I
could have been an engineer with a great career
I
am falling from a higher calling why don’t you believe
In
the end friend what you gave the same you shall receive
The
Library of Congress sent an email
The
poet of the day shall now prevail
Who
cares if it lacks any symmetry
Nonsensical
creates a mad melody
A
mad melody of the lock in the key
It’s
not jail but you’re far from free
Salute
the institute of psychiatry
A
mad melody of the lock in the key
Calm
down take the pills they give
It’s
a bad break but still you’ll live
Once
more the sun will shine from above
I
am sure I have begun divine love.
A
mad melody of the lock in the key
It’s
not jail but you’re far from free
Salute
the institute of psychiatry
A
mad melody of the lock in the key

In The Quiet Room
In The Quiet Room
by
John Kaniecki
MADNESS,
Madness, madness
An
endless mantra
My
sacred curse
This
vitriol verse
My
mind meanders in murky doom
As
I sit
As
I wait
IN
THE QUIET ROOM!!
The
large wooden door
Massively
secure
Is
full of scratches and dents
From
previous occupants
I
begin to thrust my weight
Against
the study gate
Time
after time after time
My
keepers in angry breath
Threaten
me with death
If
I don't cease my crime
It
is not their harsh laws
Bat
rather
The
futility of the cause
That
makes me repent
There
is a window
Blazing
glorious light
I
see the marvelous glow
But
nothing is right
I
am an inmate
Of Greystone
Which
is infamously known
A
ferocious reputation
Of
dark damnation
Is
its own
In
my manic delusion
My
eyes inherit illusion
I
gaze
Not
upon the sun in the sky
But
rather I see
God
in all his glory
I
do not lie
I
curse the Almighty's name
Though
my faith devout
Still
I shout
And
blasphemies I proclaim
Such
is the depths of my pain
Such
is the insanity in my brain
But
my eyes burn
And
a lesson I learn
God
you may defy
But
never look Him in the eye
Don't
even try
Moments
Melt
to minutes
My
mind dissipates
As
voices in my head
Vocally
debates
I
calmly observe
Listening
to all that is said
Suddenly
They
open the door
I
am pacified
Gone
is the war
In
my surrender
I
can scarcely remember
What
I was fighting for
From
Dorm Sixty Two
These
words are true
Judge
not pilgrim
Don't
condemn my sin
It
could happen to you
Madness
may consume
And
you my find
Life
unkind
In
the quiet room
Take a tour into the world of mental illness and see a human being. Please check out my book “More ThanThe Madness.”

Sylvia
Sylvia
By John Kaniecki
My love she lies beside me
sleeping our dream
My breath is hushed as my pen
dictates scream
She is the angel that makes
life easy
She is the devil that knows
how to please me
Lover, Friend, Doctor, Nurse,
Mother and Wife
The steadfast anchor the Love
of my life
How many angry words have you
forgave?
How many times my life came
to save?
I do not have any greater
desire
Then to kiss your lips and
embrace your fire
You are fantasy a lady and
more
In agony the woman I adore
When the well is empty from
you I drink
When my mind is barren your
thoughts I think
You are my black rose
delicately tough
I ask for more I’ll never
have enough
I pray your inner hopes of
righteousness
Will awaken you with
fulfillment’s soft kiss
I am the sage you humble to a
fool
I am a god your life I cannot
rule
Sleep dear child as I chase
futility
You will never know what you
mean to me

Raven
Raven
Angels may fly to celestial
heights
Of glorious colors mostly
whites
But ravens, dark and grim
Are merely shades and shadows
of Him
Tall Scarecrow talk of living
hell
Of all of the intricate
moments tell
Raven
Nevermore only for the poor?
Poe some moral whore
But who am I to count the score?
Jesus & Jesus alone
Pick the meat from the bone
Dark wings, lice stings, see
what tomorrow brings
Blessings from the King of
Kings
Fly Raven fly, fly and cry, cry
Raven cry, fly
Heaven is low
But don’t you know
Heaven is low
I suggest Poet To The Poor to find more of the same. But here are the books.

Cry Freedom (To Trudy My Nurse)
Cry Freedom (To Trudy My
Nurse)
By John Kaniecki
Cry freedom, cry and wail
Awesome, awesome is your tale
Steven Biko the former saint
With rainbow colors so you
paint
Cry freedom, shout the scream
Never sleep, never doubt the
dream
Words they fail
Actions prevail
Cry freedom I shall cry along
Together the better in
melodic song
Righteousness, bliss &
sweet lover’s kiss
Evil is wrong
CRY FREEDOM CRY!
Live or die, Love is why!
The chorus before us
Jesus
Messiah on the cross
His gain our loss?
Cry freedom cry
NO MORE TO CRUCIFY
Cry freedom cry
Truth tells no lie
I suggest Poet To The Poor to find more of the same. But here are the books.

My Summer Friend
In memory of my good friend Barbara Bond. A kind soul who cared for everybody.
My Summer Friend
Summer came and summer went
Days of endless laughter
spent
Wear your sweater weather’s
cool
Dust off your books back to school
Say farewell goodbye time to
part
You’ll live forever in my
heart
Summer’s dying
A new horizon
Our time will come again
My summer friend
Life is a voyage a long trail
We succeed and often fail
Walking with you was
fantastic
In a summertime of magic
A season I journeyed with you
I wish you skies ever blue
Summer’s dying
A new horizon
Our time will come again
My summer friend
Leaves brown fall is here
You’re gone but often near
Though the weather’s unkind
Your still here in my mind
And I say to you today
You’re still bright as a
summer day
Summer’s dying
A new horizon
Our time will come again
My summer friend
