Now I See

Now I See

Farm Road was a dusty trail

With a creek and a bog

Quick Mathew would catch a frog

And we’d keep him in a pail

Tadpoles would flourish in the stream

Wiggly and slimy in hand

We were living in a dream

And we did not understand

There were woods thick with bush

Branches, twigs moved with a push

All around lost in bliss

Of Mother Nature’s wilderness

The river shallow with slippery stone

Mathew and I crossed it alone

Trying not to get wet feet

As if soggy socks signaled defeat

Now the stream is dark and void

The frogs, the fish all destroyed

Farm Road is paved like all the rest

Houses built where there was forest

Progress they say I want to scream

I see your progress, progress be damned

We were living in a dream

And we did not understand

No rocks to turn to see a millipede

Our refuge of nature is now gone

A victim of man and his greed

Yet still life it must go on

There is little in us worth to redeem

The world goes on as Satan planned

We were living in a dream

And we did not understand

Cigarettes and Psychosis

 Cigarettes and Psychosis

Puffing upon the front steps

Multiple diagnosis

Cigarettes and psychosis

Hocus pocus

Life's role

Years became a marvelous magician

Once a young man

Abounding in ambition

Studying engineering

Now appearing

Broken down

Face full of a frustrated frown

Shadows under his eyes

An appearance pale in pain

Learned life's lustful lies

Now insane

Society

Stigma

Ostracized

The man in the mirror

Mesmerized

Socially crucified

Brunt of a cruel callous joke

See him smoke

Fear, hatred upon which the focus

Cigarettes and psychosis

POLISHED FRAGMENTS

Run Cindy Run

Run Cindy Run

Cindy was chasing the white rabbit down the hole

She thought he’d stolen something maybe her soul

What do you mean getting endless money’s not the goal

Why else would we want to take complete control

Run Cindy run for your life

Rabbits were born for strife

Watch out Bugs got a knife

Run Cindy run for your life

I’m innocent she says unbuttoning your shirt

I’m here to heal you baby so where does it hurt

Another cosmic encounter a stab into the void

Even in a crash landing our hopes aren’t destroyed

Run Cindy run for your life

Rabbits were born for strife

Watch out Bugs got a knife

Run Cindy run for your life

Cindy was lost as she came to the crossroads of this ordeal

There was a street sign reading “Nothing is really real”

That’s sort of using a double negative she exclaimed

Why it must be the coyotes that are truly to blame

Run Cindy run for your life

Rabbits were born for strife

Watch out Bugs got a knife

Run Cindy run for your life

Hear the wind blow it comes hot and cold

You don’t know youth until you’re old

Martin became a banker’s whore

He sits in his mansion cheering on the war

The feminist cried revolution is not only a man’s thing

True said Cindy but I really don’t want to be king

Meanwhile the rabbit escaped into the carrot field

One day the mathematics professors are going to yield

Run Cindy run for your life

Rabbits were born for strife

Watch out Bugs got a knife

Run Cindy run for your life
