Summer

 Summer

Spring will bring everything

Insects hum while birds sing

Flowers blossom in power

Forever is but a brief hour

Thunderstorms crash with lightning flash

Green is seen everywhere and in between

Love is on the scene

The glory of the story lies before me

Days stretch long

Making love is never wrong

In the depths of the forest I belong

Vibrant and strong

Kiss me with gentle lips

Hold me as time slips

Sunshine divine

Happy you are mine

Rock stars playing in cheap bars

Half price on secondhand guitars

Riddles pushed away

We’ll pay the piper another day

So wise in our foolishness

Mainlining pleasure seeking more of this

Writing poems that rhyme

In the eternity of time

The second hand of the clock ticking

You and me sticking

Closer than twins

With sweet sickly somber grins

Understand high hand wins

A double measure of pleasure to recall

And suddenly fall

While all of you and me

Are but a fond memory

And so in the subconscious you slumber

In infinite summer

Oliver’s Madness

 Oliver’s Madness

The ghost of Pele rages in my soccer sneakers

The twin spirit of Jimi Hendrix plays on my speakers

I got eight tracks of Jim Morrison covering Lead Belly blues

I’m wearing slippers matching Dorothy’s ruby red shoes

Oliver is running on a twisty road

Endless bombing hear misery explode

Oliver Oliver this doesn’t make any sense

I’d trade the universe for some shiny six pence

I got a degree from dorm sixty-two Graystone U

Rain on the brain will make you insane from my point of view

In the dungeons of Grayhawk I met a greedy grubby troll

If I had a fist full of gold dollars I’d buy your soul

Oliver is running on a twisty road

Endless bombing hear misery explode

Oliver Oliver this doesn’t make any sense

I’d trade the universe for some shiny six pence

The books of psychiatric diagnoses are long

If you read the endless pages you’ll see the shrinks think wrong

The Thorazine shuffle at the zombie dance we’ll all rebel

You’ll get a piece of heaven when you give them burning hell

Oliver is running on a twisty road

Endless bombing hear misery explode

Oliver Oliver this doesn’t make any sense

I’d trade the universe for some shiny six pence

Oliver tell me what went wrong?

Oliver this is your special song

Oliver twist it’s a new dance

Oliver Twist here’s your last chance

Rich and poor endless war Babylon is soon to fall

Far from Gog and Magog I hear the screamin’ demons call

When you hear these words remember everything that could went wrong

But it ain’t about John he’s gone this is Oliver’s song

Oliver is running on a twisty road

Endless bombing hear misery explode

Oliver Oliver this doesn’t make any sense

I’d trade the universe for some shiny six pence

My Wobbly Girl

My Wobbly Girl is a fine looking lass

A pretty pearl see her shine working class

My Wobbly Girl is a very good find

And her best feature is her Wobbly mind

My Wobbly Girl I love you

Cause we always pay our dues

You’ve built a tunnel deep into my heart

My Wobbly Girl the whole world is ours to share

My Wobbly Girl your love always pays fair

You’ll fight with all your might to free the wage slave

Guard Dragons In My Garden

 Guard Dragons In My Garden

Guard Dragons in my garden

I beg your pardon?

What are you growing that you need,

Guard Dragons in your garden

A whole host of weed?

Or perhaps something stranger indeed?

Maybe because

Despite the appropriate laws

In that fenced in acre and a half

Behind your home

You have the rarest gnome

The one that can always make you laugh

You know the tiny imp colored green

The one wearing shades at every scene

Whether twilight or midnight

And pray tell what do your dragons eat?

Delicious licorice?

Or perhaps something more sinisterly sweet?

Lake a damsel in distress

Wearing a pink cotton candy dress

Oh I can guess

Why there are Guard Dragons in your garden

In the morning I hear them roar

In the evening I hear them snore

To them life must be one great bore

For all the champions of the sword

Have joined together in one accord

To flagrantly ignore

Your Guard Dragons in the garden

These knights their hearts did harden

And they have forsaken all nobility

And chivalry

And function simply as roughnecks

Having lost all the ladies respect

Except those seeking a cheap thrill

But alas such a lass

Always will

Sell out cheap and lose no sleep

But my mind ponders and wonders

What happened to the heroes of the downtrodden?

 Despite being highly paid

They are all afraid

Of Guard Dragons in the garden

Where Is The Parking?

Where Is The Parking?

I couldn’t catch the subway train

Eyes electric lady land vain

I didn’t even have any friends

Besides my Porsche and Mercedes Benz

So I hustled off to Alamo

And snorted a gram of blow

But the CIA was in a little worry

As they fled the scene in diabolical hurry

I saw a spot but it was awful tight

To fit in, to fit in, well I just might

Of course, I didn’t want to scratch the paint

If I did, I’d yell a spell and then faint

There was dog dodo on the ground

My heart in angst began to pound

I pressed the metal to the pedal in backwards cliché

And fled to what was a better day

Yuppies are a thing of the past

And police cruisers ride mighty fast

Chief Columbo is a confidant

Pray tell what more could you want

Another parking deck?

A dismal gigantic metallic wreck

Where is the parking snorted the whore?

What does it matter if there’s nuclear war?

Pieces Of Me

Pieces Of Me 2

Hand in hand on a midnight stroll

You kissed my lips touched my soul

Under the witness of infinity

You whispered softly

Take these pieces of me

Pieces of me a ring around the heart

No beginning no start

Pieces of me a ring around the heart

Pieces of me never to depart

I sailed the seas searching for what?

In each view never forgot

Even on the eternal sea

The wind spoke quietly

Take these pieces of me

Pieces of me a ring around the heart

No beginning no start

Pieces of me a ring around the heart

Pieces of me never to depart

Forever is something that is made

Red roses grow only to fade

Thorns remain I pray they depart

Can we my love make a new start?

Close enough to be vulnerable

Full of fear trembling wonderful

Tomorrow holds only promise

Sorrow to turn to bliss

Love’s fetters so shall it be

Take these pieces of me

Pieces of me a ring around the heart

No beginning no start

Pieces of me a ring around the heart

Pieces of me never to depart

There Are Many Herods

There Are Many Herods

There are many Herods

Yes indeed

There are many Herods

Poisoned with greed

They are an envious lot

Best to be forgot

Longing for the sky

Coveting God’s throne on high

From the stars

Dealing scars

See the children die

The moan of the drone

Flesh burned off the bone

A smell of hell

Nothing is well

These many Herods

They are not near

To hear the desperate cry

These many Herods

Living a lie

They have no fear

As they are a world away

They dance and play

And curse with scorn

As the world does mourn

But yet in each generation

A baby is born

A champion of salvation

Inwardly torn

Dancing the reds

Singing the blues

Saying what needs to be said

Preaching good news

There are many Herods

History tells of them all

There are many Herods

But they all shall fall

Beaten down by the rod

Of the  Son of God

Down in the Hood

 Down in the Hood

The ghetto is now called the hood

To Edgar it is a place no good

The train travels on through

On it’s way to the City

From the window an excellent view

None too pretty

Garbage and graffiti he does note

“Unpleasant” his word to quote

Edgar is a racist

One of the elite

Law and order I insist

Law and order on the street

Edgar reads the news

It tells of the high murder rate

Let ‘em all sing the blues

His thoughts of vicious hate

In college he learned of Darwin

And the history of the human race

Edgar thinks it’s not a sin

To be of the superior race

But Edgar has a secret most grim

Never dared to tell another soul

The sisters really attract him

Almost make him lose control

His pale wife

Is plain, frigid and cold

Far past her prime

Proper and old

But these large ladies how they strut

Tight blue jeans with a bursting but

Large breasted women savagely wild

How his heart beats with thunder

A contradiction unable to be reconciled

Why it is, a mystery of great wonder

Firewind Anthem

 Firewind Anthem

This is the ballad of the Firewind band

We’re revolting against central command

This is the ballad of the Firewind band

We are the musicians rocking the land

Everybody come lend us your hand

It’s about time to make our final stand

We rebel against the powers that be

Against a government too blind to see

Come laughter or sorrow

We are force tomorrow

We’re going to rock your soul

If you still got a soul

This is our anthem the Firewind song

We resolve that hatred and killing is wrong

This is our anthem the Firewind song

If you stand for peace and Love you belong

We’re going to be marching in the street

We’re gonna give the powers that be some heat

Lay down your weapons and join with us

Pick up your cross as we follow Jesus

Come laughter or sorrow

We are force tomorrow

We’re going to rock your soul

If you still got a soul

This is our glorious Firewind tune

The final fight for freedom’s coming soon

This is our glorious Firewind tune

It’s close to Armageddon near high noon

The people in charge says nothings wrong

But I say the horror has gone on too long

Lay down your weapons lay them down tonight

Peace and Love are the tools with which we fight

Come laughter or sorrow

We are force tomorrow

We’re going to rock your soul

If you still got a soul

The Curse

 The Curse

I am an angel afraid to fly

I am a mortal scared to die

I am the Creator in fear of creation

I am a sinner scorning salvation

Oh Lord hear my lonesome cry

Oh see my pitiful state

Unfathomable mysteries to contemplate

Try as I might try

I cannot soothe my soul

Or be whole

POLISHED FRAGMENTS

Poet To The Poor

The Humanity Of The Enemy

The Humanity Of The Enemy

Reality, is a rocking cradle, God is able, a miracle sleeps

Mother's gentle hand does not understand forces beyond her command

The winds wails, the system fails, hatred prevails

Religion, nationality, ethnicity, ideology, is null and void

As baby cries, humanity dies and the Earth is being destroyed

Outside miserable men march, in uniforms green, merchants of death

In a nursing home, beloved grandfather, flocked by family, takes his last breath

What matters? All of us possess things that bless, love and kindness in heart

Our common humanity greatly outweighs what we have apart

The byproduct of the war machine, is most obscene, obstinately unclean

Impoverished billions in continents far, millions wallow in poverty here

Bickering politicians want to kill social security, to save a dime, what a crime

Organized violence, requires no license, blessed by wizards of science

Sucking brain power, they devour the intelligentsia, captivated

So the real issue, the virtue of bettering mankind is abandoned far behind

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you

Are those words wrong or are those words true?

We shall escape the rape of the world in its savage brutality

When see with our eyes and realize the humanity of enemy

Train Wreck

 Train Wreck

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

Running down the line looking so fine

A hell of a train called make it all mine

Iron and steel it’s a fire of fury

Get off of the tracks it’s in a hurry

A world away it didn’t seem true

I fell in love like young girls always do

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

A train wreck a world of pain

A train wreck life’s insane

A train wreck coming in vain

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

A train wreck and it’s coming again

Mother picked my man before I was born

Between custom and Love I was torn

Outcast I rode the plains with Crazy Horse

The elders would not let me divorce

We were free as the sky never knowing

It all would end with a whistle blowing

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

A train wreck a world of pain

A train wreck life’s insane

A train wreck coming in vain

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

A train wreck and it’s coming again

Liquor lies and soldiers ready to fight

So much for us making love all night

I kissed him hard as we said goodbye

I knew we were through I broke down to cry

Our hope was just to live our own way

Before the iron dragon had its day

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

A train wreck a world of pain

A train wreck life’s insane

A train wreck coming in vain

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

A train wreck and it’s coming again

Like the Buffalo we are no more

We won the battle but lost the war

Like my people I am of the past

Love stories have no choice but to last

At six every morn the train rolls by

When something is born something must die

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

A train wreck a world of pain

A train wreck life’s insane

A train wreck coming in vain

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

A train wreck and it’s coming again

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

I ride the plains you can still hear my cry

When something is born something must die

Ooooh oooh oooh oooh

Chaplain Harry’s Regret

 Chaplain Harry’s Regret

Harry Emerson Fosdick as a young man was an officer in the United States Army during World War I. In his capacity as chaplain he would pray with the soldiers who would attack the German machine gun nest. The majority of the soldiers would never return alive. In later life the preacher regretted this part of his past.

What I’d done I’d rather not say

We would gather

In the morn to start the day

How could a word to the Creator be ill?

I prayed for blessings to kill

I prayed for blessings to kill!

I prayed for blessings to kill

I would look the boys in their eyes

And fill their heads with lies

And say, “Boys do your best”

The machine gun nest they would attack

And most would not come back

I now walk the silent ground

Once filled with explosions and horrid sound

White crosses abound

Everywhere to be found

Lined neatly and precise row by row

Oh the secrets they know

I too was once young in age

My deeds recorded on eternal page

Yes I too was once the fool

The devil’s tool

What is war?

Once this green silent meadow

Was divided by two trenches defining no man’s land

War is Hell and nothing grand

It is humanity’s ugliest blight

And till this day fills me with fright

When I lay on my bed calm, serene and still

Recalling how I prayed for blessings to kill

I prayed for blessings to kill……
