To Sylvia

 To Sylvia

Playing rhythm guitar

Missing a string

Having a kingdom

Without a king

A brand new morn

And there is no sun

Heaven on a clear night

Not a single star in sight

That’s how life would be

To me

Without you

But the guitar strums sweet

The kingdom is complete

The sun shines rosy and grand

And heaven is just how it’s planned.

POLISHED FRAGMENTS

Momma - In Memory of Martha Jenkins

Momma - In Memory of Martha Jenkins

(Mother, Grand Mother, Friend, Much More)

Born - November 10, 1948

Passed On - January 23, 2013

By John Kaniecki

Momma

Lay your bones to rest

Gone is the test

You’ve done your best

You leave more behind

Than memories kind

Momma

We cherish and hold you

More than gold

More than we told you

More then we could express

God bless

Momma

Goodbye

We’ll wail and cry

And never forget

All the good you gave

Up to the grave

In truth you are never gone

Memories, spirits, linger on

And Momma when we fall

And with wearied voice I call

In desperate prayer

Your tender loving care

Will always be there

Momma

Jesus is the Judge of all

Before him we stand or fall

Sleep until His call

We trust and understand

God is in command

And though there is immense grief

We cling to a deep belief

A God of mercy He does reign

And Love is never in vain

Shades Of Blue

 Shades Of Blue

By John Kaniecki

There are many shades of blue

And all I recall

Remind me of you

There are many shades of blue

Wide, thin, small and tall

But none of them are true

I see the sky

I cry
I see the ocean deep

I weep

There are many shades of blue

And all I recall

Remind me of you

And how you weren’t true

So what’s a poor boy to do?

There are many shades of blue

And I’d trade a kingdom or two

For one of those days full of charm

When I held you tight in my arms

But the past has fled

And my heart is dead

It is no longer red

But alas

Entrenched in a blue steadfast

There are many shades of blue

And I wish I never knew

Your love so tender and sweet

So in bitter defeat

I lay these words at your feet

There are many shades of blue

And the poet cannot conceive

Or the man of faith believe

Or have a clue

Of the love one can receive

From somebody as wonderful as you

Fingered By Fate

Fingered By Fate

Born under a bad sign who’s to say

I wanna sing let the music play

Guitar in hand she gently strummed

I knew not the words so I hummed

She said hold me the hour is late

Go forward we dare not wait

At the end we shall celebrate

For we were fingered by fate

The coffee was spiked with Spanish rum

Wine’s the only drink in the Kingdom

On the cross Jesus gave it all

All they offered was bitter gall

She said hold me the hour is late

Go forward we dare not wait

At the end we shall celebrate

For we were fingered by fate

We made love if you want to call it that

You’re only sexy till you become fat

Kinky women know all the tricks

Round two began I got some good licks

She said hold me the hour is late

Go forward we dare not wait

At the end we shall celebrate

For we were fingered by fate

I decided I would search out the deeper inner source

I rode with the Apache when the Mexicans came in force

Kit Carson he chopped down all our peach trees

Wanka Tanka he’s coming soon riding the breeze

Back to the zodiac deja vous

I can leave everything except you

I kissed her fingers deep in scent

Life lingers one day you’ll repent

She said hold me the hour is late

Go forward we dare not wait

At the end we shall celebrate

For we were fingered by fate
