A Mother’s Love (For Corwyn Bailey)

A Mother’s Love (For Corwyn Bailey)

By John Kaniecki

Blessings like petals on an infinite flower

Hour after dedicated hour

Nine months or so in the womb

Holding my hand through a child’s gloom

Momma you were family

The all in all to me

The all in all for me

Three years past I let go of your hand

God made His firm demand

And off you were to Beulah Land

I wonder if your robe is white

Or dark as your sacred skin

I know in the untouchable light

We can begin

To love, and forgive

To finally live how life was meant to be

With dignity and honesty

Momma that’s what you taught me

And so much more

A mother’s love who could comprehend?

It has no beginning it has no end

The circle in time is the perfect rhyme

I hear the church bells chime

They lowered you in the ground

And I found

Misty, soft, tears of regret

As if we never met

But Momma

I feel your gentle touch

I hear the whispers in my ear

Though only the Wind is near

A mother’s love

So much to say

A mother’s love

I embrace it today

In every way

Momma

Lay your bones to rest

Gone is the test

You’ve done your best

You leave more behind

Than memories kind

Momma

We cherish and hold you

More than gold

More than we told you

More then we could express

God bless

Momma

Goodbye

We’ll wail and cry

And never forget

All the good you gave

Up to the grave

In truth you are never gone

Memories, spirits, linger on

And Momma when we fall

And with wearied voice I call

In desperate prayer

Your tender loving care

Will always be there

Momma

Jesus is the Judge of all

Before him we stand or fall

Sleep until His call

We trust and understand

God is in command

And though there is immense grief

We cling to a deep belief

A God of mercy He does reign

And Love is never in vain

POLISHED FRAGMENTS

Poet To The Poor

Mother

 Mother

Love is all

To see you laying in silence

Powerless except for prayer

Fighting death in defiance

Do you know how much I care?

Love is all

When you read for me before I slept?

When you dried my tears as I wept?

When you listened to my words of sorrow?

When you gave me hope for a better tomorrow?

When you denied yourself to lend a hand?

When no one but you could understand?

Love is all

The sum of your deeds immense

Most of them given at your expense

Love is all

Cancer gnaws at your body consuming the bone

We are there so you know that you are not alone

Soon God will give a beckoning call

Love is all

Flowers, cards, a casket of finest wood

Tears of sorrow, kind words do you no good

You have left to a place of no return

Life’s most important message you helped me learn

Love is all
