Western Union Rap

 Western Union Rap

By John Kaniecki

Tried to send money to Uganda man
Had me a righteous plan

Western Union said they could get the job done
I took to the computer I was on the run

Went to sleep guaranteed all was grace

Slept dreaming with smiles on my face

Woke up four thirty too hustle some more
A bad email hit me to the floor

Western Union said no go

They lied to me, that I know
Spent an hour of wasted time talking to Ali

Moments of agonized futility

I just wanted to know what went wrong

Was it the lyrics or the drums in the song?
They still don’t tell me any resolution

Here’s a cry don’t use Western Union

For The Liberty I Cry Woe

For The Liberty I Cry Woe

By John Kaniecki

She

For the Liberty

Was a ship of sea

Of finest technology

Deployed off Egypt’s shore

In international waters

During the Six Day War

Flying the red, white and blue

Everybody knew

Whom the Liberty belonged to

An Israeli jet soared in the sky

Even from way up high

They were certain and sure

That the U.S.S. Liberty

Was sailing down below

It was America’s vessel

All could tell

All did know

In a blatant act brutality

One that defies civility

The Israeli plane attacked

There was no turning back

An Israeli torpedo boat

Joined in the fray

It was a most miserable day

Thirty four Americans died

But no words foul were cried

For the truth was denied

President Lyndon B. Johnson

Forbid all to speak

Of what was done

On that miserable day bleak

Nineteen sixty seven, on June eight

Remember that dreadful date

Of to Malta the Liberty went

She was bandaged to present

An outright lie

So none would ask ‘why?’

Then to Norfolk Virginia she sailed

She was decommissioned

All while her crew silently wailed

Finally she was sold for scrap

While the crew was caught in a trap

They could not tell their story

They could not share the shame

For America sold her glory

And refused to give proper blame

The crew of the USS LIBERTY

Will never forget

That day in infamy when

"God kept the USS LIBERTY afloat"

And thus Philip Tourney wrote

I have presented to you the truth

I have presented to you the lie

Truth will always win the day

That is why we pray

And thus now you know

Why

For the Liberty I cry woe

Silent Cries

 Silent Cries

The story of King Leopold is being retold

They barter innocent souls for the price of gold

And don’t you know it’s the same as yesterday

The powers that be simply look away

Can you hear our silent cries (silent cries)?

Congo the heart of Africa slowly dies

They say they care they speak many lies

Oh, why don’t you answer our silent cries?

As long as they get their money let the people be damned

They’re raping the women while stealing the land

For the wealth in the ground the armies are here

Forces of terror they deal the devil’s fear

Can you hear our silent cries (silent cries)?

Congo the heart of Africa slowly dies

They say they care they speak many lies

Oh, why don’t you answer our silent cries?

From the history of man the lessons are learned

As a human being you should be concerned

When your brother perishes in genocide

For the love of God you must choose a side

What would you do if it happened to you?

Tomorrow the nightmare could come true

The holocaust it never comes to an end

Until we embrace all humanity as friend

Can you hear our silent cries (silent cries)?

Congo the heart of Africa slowly dies

They say they care they speak many lies

Oh, why don’t you answer our silent cries?

The river flows red from the blood of the slain

Greed is the evil deed that drives man insane

We must stop the tide peace can’t be denied

In Congo once more the pure are crucified

Can you hear our silent cries (silent cries)?

Congo the heart of Africa slowly dies

They say they care they speak many lies

Oh why don’t you answer our silent cries?

Mother Teresa a Poem By John Kaniecki

Mother Teresa

By John Kaniecki

A saint with golden curly hair

I knew her before the war when we believed in prayer

Laughing kicking back without a crimson care

And then the years, fears and tears

Like shadow hawks appears

God knows evil nears

Still in the still God has his will

And on lonely Calvary time stood

Evil for good

Two thieves one on the left one on the right

The criminals nailed with a fight

But passive was the King of Kings

As hammer meeting nails

Hear the impale as the rhyming chiming wails

Get it out of your head

I recall Christ said

To love one another

Sister,

Brother,

The stranger in danger too

And funny honey I love you

It’s just the thing to do

Teresa you have grown

And you are known

In these words, immortal as your soul

Peace and justice a sacred secret goal

And you knew me when I was full of debate

Hated and a victim of hate

But I told Satan to wait

And saw in the simple what was great

But this is your poem so let me utter sugar candies sweet

Rise to the skies the phoenix knows no defeat

In the heart of Africa in the Congo is rape

Only through peace is there escape

The world is dying

The children are crying

And Christ once more crucifying.

A silver comb for your curls

The prettiest of the little girls

Spin the bottle and there is not a hint of shame

As this moment passes nothing is the same

Saint Teresa mother so kind

I wish you peace of mind

I am extremely proud of my granddaughter Mareze. She is attending medical school in Grenada. I wrote a poem to always remember that a doctor is first a servant of the people.

Mister Greed

by John Kaniecki

Mangy Mareze meandered the mystical maze

Today a day unlike all other days

A confusion of craze

Heart pumping furiously

Crimson blood flowed

Her pattering feet slowed

Before her was a door steadfast and secure

Fashioned of fine oak with a knocker of brass

A sight one might not pass

Without giving a second look

Like cryptic writing in a secret book

Mareze was lost counting the cost

Her hopes hampered in holocaust

She had nothing to lose

Save her sad song of endless blues

So up to the door just gave a push

But not an inch did it move

So Mareze put her whole weight on the portal

And pushed as if she was Hercules

Or some other strong immortal

The hinges creaked

And in delight Mareze shrieked

With double effort

Pushing for all that she was worth

She dug in her feet

Not accepting defeat

Slowly fraction by fraction

The door moved to Mareze’s satisfaction

So just to be sure
She pushed some more

Like a Champagne cork exploding

The door flew open

And Mareze went rolling in

At first stumbling

Than tumbling tumbling tumbling

Like a gymnast doing somersaults

Until she came to a halt

Mareze looked up to behold

A massive mountain of gold!

Stunned beyond belief

She sat their until she heard a cry

“A thief! A thief!”

There is the distance tiny to the eye

Small like a dismal fly

Sat an odd man

Naked as the day of his birth

His arms were thin as sin
His belly fat as a kettle

His skin silvery metal

On his face a wicked grin

His hand was extended pointing with his finger

He gave a massive shout

“What do you want in here?”

Though the man was not near

Mareze quaked in fear.
“Oh good sir I need your help indeed”

Raven

 Raven

Angels may fly to celestial heights

Of glorious colors mostly whites

But ravens, dark and grim

Are merely shades and shadows of Him

Tall Scarecrow talk of living hell

Of all of the intricate moments tell

Raven

Nevermore only for the poor?

Poe some moral whore

But who am I to count the score?

Jesus & Jesus alone

Pick the meat from the bone

Dark wings, lice stings, see what tomorrow brings

Blessings from the King of Kings

Fly Raven fly, fly and cry, cry Raven cry, fly

Heaven is low

But don’t you know

Heaven is low

I suggest Poet To The Poor to find more of the same. But here are the books.
