Love
I was looking for a can of discount beans
Stretching out in my tight blue jeans
When I heard a whistle from behind
I turned around to look and find
Mister Perfect looking at my ass
I said
“Damn, you’re cute, but can you get a little class?”
He smiled, his teeth complete and pearly white
“Can I take you out for dinner tonight?”
Well, anything is better than cold canned vegetables
So I said, “Yes, I am willing and able”
Together we walked to his Mercedes Benz
I knew then we’d be more than friends
Off we went with the tires squealing
Girl, I can’t tell you just how high I was feeling
I was some place between zero and infinity
And a supernova was in my immediate vicinity
So we had a meal of steak and surf
With a table on the bay on the fisherman's wharf
I was watching the sun set over the sea
Wondering about the possibility
If this could be more than two ships passing in the night
So I decided that I’d had better play my cards right
Right away I ditched the deuce
It wasn’t wise to be loose
Sure I might have an orgasm or three
But the night would end, and out of the door I’d be
So I decided to play the King of Clubs
As I contemplated my future hub
“I said, hey baby, I’d really like to go have a dance”
“Could you, would you, should you take a chance?”
He said, “Hey babe, don’t you know that dancing is my thing”
“Not only do I hustle, but I also sing”
Then like thunder in wide wonder I came into the know
I whispered softly, “You’re Barry Manilow”
“Yes,” he said with a nod as the bill came to pay
“I had to do something to convince the world I ain’t gay”
Well I wanted to get angry, but that would have been a sin
Love is a game, sometimes you lose, sometimes you win
