"Tolerence" by Trevor Nielsen

Tolerence

By Trevor Nielsen

Our tolerence it knows no bounds,
We rise for patriotic sounds,.
We'll gladly tolerate it all
For televisions on our wall,

We tolerate the ones in charge,
Their narratives are written large,
We tolerate their tax and rent,
We tolerate the government,

We tolerate the filth and rats,
The oligarchs and plutocrats,
It's they who should control the show,
It's true because they told us so,

We tolerate the common theft,
That lubricates the wealth and debt,
We tolerate the contradictions,
Tolerate the lies and fictions,

Lands are rendered meaningless,
We tolerate the emptiness,
We plumb the depths within our souls,
Is it just another hole?

We tolerate the commons theft,
We tolerate it right and left,
That everything belongs to all,
Is something we just can't recall,

Some things we just can't forget,
But we'll forget the rest I bet,
We tolerated genocide
If history is any guide,

We tolerate the M.I.C,
Think it spreads democracy,
That some folks don't deserve to live
Is something that's intuitive,

We'll support the troops and wars,
Careful cause we're keeping scores,
We'll support our governance,
All because of tolerence,

We'll support the troops in blue,
The horses they rode in on too,
We know it all makes perfect sense,
They will enforce our tolerence,

Can't tolerate the refugees,
Just lock them up without a key,
For seeking to emancipate
Is something we can't tolerate,

We must forget the sacred ground,
Cause money makes the world go round,
And what is worthy of respect?
Be careful where you genuflect.
