The Least Of These
"Whatever ye have done to the least of these ye have
done unto me"
See the proud man beseeching upon his knee
Before the Lord, the Lamb of God
The God whom he deplored
The businessman looks into the eyes of those he ignored
The half starving homeless vagrants he passed on the way to
the office
Where he lived a life of opulence and bliss
The rich man who lived life without a care
Never even approaching God in prayer
He mocked religion as a foolish myth
As evidence cable TV preachers obviously full of it
Besides Loving your fellow man
Would then necessitate conceiving some plan
Certainly to love the masses and then to do nil
Would be a clear violation of God's will
So life digresses into living it up with whores and cocaine
And passing idle time pretending it all isn't in vain
Vehemently protesting any notion of morality
Looking upon suckers who care with a loathing of fatality
All the while like a mouse nibbling on the wedge of cheese
The abstract notion entailing "The least of these"
So you make your martini doubly dry
And every feeling of from the heart you crucify
Behind the dark tinted glass of your limousine
Others perceive that you are living the high life of the
dream
Then why is every thought in your mind vulgar and obscene?
You have learned to be comfortably numb
You have won every test but you have never overcome
And so the mogul approaches the Lord on Judgment Day
He tries to speak without a single word he can say
Never come before the Lord of Lords with any empty hand
Bring him jewels of compassion that is what he does demand
For if the God of the universe is the one you seek to please
May I suggest passing the test
That you do you very, very best
To give comfort and aid to "The Least of These"
