"Lack Of Empathy In The Human Race" by John Kaniecki

Here is a poem that I wrote for somebody on Facebook. If you like this poem I strongly urge you to check out my books. Supporting the arts is a crucial aspect of life. It is a revolutionary act of defiance to celebrate the common humanity of us all. Also if you would like to have a personal poem written for you please get in touch with me at peacepoems@mail.com

Lack Of Empathy In The Human Race

By John Kaniecki

Masses of drones marching in suit and tie
A wave of arrogance washing by
Never mind the poor strung out vet
That is someone else’s regret
A soldier of misfortune
War for oil and spoil was the popular tune
When he returned
He quickly learned
The hate of the state
As Wall Street executives
Feel privileges
To take and never give
Is how they live
And empathy is void
Certainly none for the nations they have destroyed
Pull yourself up by your bootstraps
But when we organize
And refute their lies
Out comes the gun
And the cowboy kills the Indian
In perfect Sioux slaughter
The agony of Wounded Knee
But for a dollar and a quarter
You can buy a coffee
But for the veteran who has the cardboard sign
I’ll work for food he does declare
He don’t even get a prayer
Let alone a dime
Capitalism is a crime
And the government criminal
It isn’t even subliminal
It is Earth’s greatest disgrace
Lack of empathy in the human race
