The End Of The Fight lyrics by John Kaniecki for Alison Krauss to Sing

Some of my song lyrics I can’t even remember writing. This one, however, has a very vivid story. I am dedicated to my wife, as in our marriage vow’s ‘forsaking all others’. Sadly Sylvia is suffering from dementia. We have gone through a lot in our marriage, my mental illness not helping any. With Sylvia’s illness, we went through the trying stages of her illness. It was hell when she would run away in search her home of Grenada, a world away. I would drive her for hours as it kept her calm, sometimes over two hundred miles a day. As it is now she is confined to bed. We only go out for doctors and church.

So it was that Sylvia and survival were pressing on my mind. I haven’t worked in three years and the savings are dwindling fast. As such, I took up writing and pursued my dream. While I’ve had nominal success, it has fallen far short of supporting my family. Still, I am very grateful that I had this time to dedicate to my art.

It was late at night and I was on YouTube watching videos and out came Alison Krauss singing beautiful harmonies. I was inspired and in less than ten minutes I wrote the song lyrics on this post. It was a tribute to my wife Sylvia, It was written for Alison to sing.

So the only thing that I am waiting for is Alison to get at it and write a melody. I know this is asking a lot and it is, in fact, a miracle. But my wife’s favorite scripture was Philippians4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengthenth me. So please tweet this message and petition the woman with the precious voice, Alison Krauss.

My wife worked her entire life taking care of the elderly and children. I find it unconscionable that God would abandon her in her time of need.

Please share this widely!

This is part of Sylvia's story and mine.

The End Of The Fight

Trouble was the meal of your day
On your knees to work and pray
But your smile it never did fade
Though you were highly underpaid

I was a seeker of righteousness
Insane in the bosom of God’s bliss
There must be more to life than this
And then I felt your loving kiss

I never let go of your sweet hand
Until the Lord took your light
I never let go of your sweet hand
Till the end of the fight

Survival is a common story
All to the Lord praise and glory
Love is a word meaning action
Love is the greatest satisfaction

The winds blew in the tempest
All the strong go through the test
And with you by my side near
I felt secure without a hint of fear

I never let go of your sweet hand
Until the Lord took your light
I never let go of your sweet hand
Till the end of the fight

Some sweet voice should sing this song
With a beauty grand and strong
To give you the honor and praise
For choosing the narrowest of ways

When I was down you held me tight
When I suffered you made it right
So this is my goodbye dear friend
This is the celebration of the end

I never let go of your sweet hand
Until the Lord took your light
I never let go of your sweet hand
Till the end of the fight
