"Inner Toil A Of Rapid Cycle Bipolar" by John Kaniecki

The world of mental illness is wide and broad. It does not discriminate but inflicts all equally. There are of course many who are vilely sick who gravitate to positions of power and control, whether it is the teacher on a power trip or politicians with super inflated egos.

Some form of mental illness is so severe that the person’s behavior is so unacceptable that there is no alternative to a hospital stay. In my years of struggle with bipolar, I have seen many others who were terribly ill. This poem is about rapid cyclers.

Inner Toil A Of Rapid Cycle Bipolar

By John Kaniecki

I can I tell
Of the rollercoaster from Hell
Down then up
Thirsty with an overflowing cup
Demons shout
An angel sings
It is all about
Swift mood swings
Full of distortion
In massive proportion
King of the universe
Then crushed by the curse
Sometimes the high is fun
But when the crashes come
Suicidal temptations
Where is salvation?
All the while
From frown to smile
In times when I contemplate
Comes the self hate
Fighting the undeniable dignity
Common of all humanity
The ultimate damned Holy Roller
Inner toil of a rapid cycle bipolar

Take a tour into the world of mental illness and see a human being. Please check out my book “More ThanThe Madness.”
