Mirage

Mirage

This song is a poor song been singing it my whole life long

I’ve been chasing a dream but somewhere it all went wrong

Visited Vegas looking to win the ultimate score

Woke up drunk after being robbed by some second-string whore

Money is a mirage make believe

As you give so shall you receive

Mirages lurk on the distant horizon

You only meet them when you’re dyin’

Hear my melody I’m wondering if you could set me free

You see somebody put me in chains and they took the key

I was rocking in Rome trying to visit the Pope at his home

But the priest at the feast declared I was an unknown

Religion is a mirage make believe

As you give so shall you receive

Mirages lurk on the distant horizon

You only meet them when you’re dyin’

These words are empty words I never found that true love

I searched the valleys low and climbed the mountains above

I once found a doll whom I could call my very best friend

She smiled sweetly and said it completely had to end

Love is a mirage make believe

As you give so shall you receive

Mirages lurk on the distant horizon

You only meet them when you’re dyin’

I heard Budha proclaim this place was all an illusion

But those orange clad monks drove me to confusion

The Dali Lama stays in the finest of suites

And sits with kings and queens while he eats

I wrote my story of glory I’d lay it before you strong

But the publisher gave a rejection citing it was too long

I am a lonesome poet reciting on the corner with a sign

I’ll rhyme for food was my most famous last line

Life is a mirage make believe

As you give so shall you receive

Mirages lurk on the distant horizon

You only meet them when you’re dyin’

Dollar Bill Refugee

 Dollar Bill Refugee

Tent city we’re living under the highway

The well to do wish we’d just go away

If Jesus was on Earth he’d kick back down here

Instead we’re fed with looks of fear

I’m a dollar bill refugee

The landlord put one over on me

A victim of the economy

I’m a dollar bill refugee

At the mission house you get a hot meal

A full belly and a prayer what a deal

God in His great wisdom puts you through a test

All of us poor we’re doubly blessed

I’m a dollar bill refugee

The landlord put one over on me

A victim of the economy

I’m a dollar bill refugee

And poetry my friend won’t pay the rent

While John’s in the city crying repent

Whispers of revolution vibrate in the air

As billionaires laugh without care

I’m a dollar bill refugee

The landlord put one over on me

A victim of the economy

I’m a dollar bill refugee

Bombs are falling made in the U.S.A.

More death and taxes coming your way

All our young march with a gun in their hand

Zombie apocalypse legions of the damned

The American dream oppression of the poor

Jails overflowing we’re ever knowing war

It’s only business so don’t take it to heart

Hustling bustling now do your part

I’m a dollar bill refugee

The landlord put one over on me

A victim of the economy

I’m a dollar bill refugee

Monopoly

 Monopoly

Where all is but a whisp of dreams

And that not even what it seems

Pretty princess crying hour after hour

Evil witch holds her captive in tall tower

On the wind sad cries blow to and fro

There are secrets that none wish to know

This is suburbia this is the city as well

There is no monopoly on hell

Strippers in night clubs under a spell

The dollar speaks what does it tell?

Working nine to five won’t keep you alive

Politicians offering empty jive

Children lost in fantasy abyss

Where or where is the magical kiss?

This is suburbia this is the city as well

There is no monopoly on hell

Strippers in night clubs under a spell

The dollar speaks what does it tell?

Rockets roar war is waged

The young have aged

Issued uniforms taught to kill

Could this be God’s will?

Little Lady we flee holding hand in hand

Searching for the hope of the Promised Land

Sky illuminates as hate manifests

All I can promise you my love is my best

This is suburbia this is the city as well

There is no monopoly on hell

Strippers in night clubs under a spell

The dollar speaks what does it tell?

Insanity my friend is the norm

In the end we die or conform?
