I Will Raise My Voice

I Will Raise My Voice (My first poem every publish by Tim Hall of Struggle Magazine)

David Smith he was a good friend of mine

He worked next to me on the assembly line

He said his goal was to set man free

I won’t sell my soul to the factory

Oh yes my name is David Smith

I’ll give my life if it comes down to it

And as we worked all day long

He would softly sing this song

I will raise my voice until they hear

I will raise my voice I’ll have no fear

I will raise my voice both day and night

I will raise my voice till they see the light

After work sometimes we would go to the café

Dave would speak wonders of a better day

Capitalism is crazy with greed insane

The rich get richer the poor get pain

But the workers one day will unite

And the workers will make it right

And between drinks of domestic beer

A soft song I would hear clear

I will raise my voice until they hear

I will raise my voice I’ll have no fear

I will raise my voice both day and night

I will raise my voice till they see the light

Well Dave hated the union he hated the job

He hated the rich and he hated the mob

I don’t know who but some one did poor Dave in

When I heard I cursed and said what a sin

And when I was at the grave saying goodbye

I just couldn’t help but to cry

And as they lowered him in the ground

The wind blew a familiar sound

I will raise my voice until they hear

I will raise my voice I’ll have no fear

I will raise my voice both day and night

I will raise my voice till they see the light

Deneen the Queen

 Deneen the Queen

It’s me and Deneen

Checking out the scene

Between the past and present

And things never been

Well we’ll come together

We’ll sit out the weather

Come rain or shine

I know we’ll be fine

We sing for a better thing

We pray for a better day

We always try to do our best

Then we let God do the rest

It’s Deneen and I

Watching the setting sky

When the sun is gone

There’s strength to carry on

We dance in moon’s pale light

We embrace rather than fight

And if we hold tight

It makes it feel allright

Yeah it makes it feel allright

We sing for a better thing

We pray for a better day

We always try to do our best

Then we let God do the rest

If I play my cards right

She’ll spend more than a night

I’ll take her as a wife

Share the rest of our life

Do I really have a chance

To make it in romance

But I’ll settle for a dance

And a loving glance

We sing for a better thing

We pray for a better day

We always try to do our best

Then we let God do the rest

The Revolutionary Legacy Of Allen Ginsburg

The Revolutionary Legacy Of Allen Ginsburg

In the glory of City Lights

Howling through the darkest of nights

Walking, ever walking the beat

Robbed on a New York Street

A young man from Paterson

Perturbed, disturbed

Yet still widely heard

He was vile and obscene

So declared the machine

But I am happy to report

That even in their kangaroo court

They heard free speech’s call

As with a clenched fist

We squeezed to resist

Crushing Moloch’s balls

And so Allen’s works sits upon the shelf

A perverted version of our inner self

A man who strove for the common good

Like all men should

A man captured in time

Mostly for his alleged crime

Oh the misery of this revolutionary

He also wrote good poetry

We Are A People Proud

We Are A People Proud

We are empty in the land of plenty there’s no food on the plate

In the name of the God of love they delivered a world of hate

Promising friendship and freedom for all they made us slaves

Early to toil to earn the master’s spoil we descend to early graves

We are not a colony we are a people proud

We demand our freedom clear and loud

A few greedy men are always a crowd

We are not a colony we are a people proud

The furnace has raged for long centuries do you embrace the flame?

My skin is like the midnight sky on high and I feel no shame

Africa’s the place I embrace mother of civilization

Listen to the score once more I am sure we’ll rise to a great nation

We are not a colony we are a people proud

We demand our freedom clear and loud

A few greedy men are always a crowd

We are not a colony we are a people proud

We were living in mighty tall towers while Europe was in caves

In the illusion of cruel confusion you made us slaves

Well seasons change my friend and it’s time for terror to end

God has a purpose and God has a way there’s no chance to defend

For Arica I fight I pledge my life and all

Freedom is my delight I answer the call

For Africa I sing a blessing forever more

We are a people proud of that I am sure

We are not a colony we are a people proud

We demand our freedom clear and loud

A few greedy men are always a crowd

We are not a colony we are a people proud

Let’s celebrate in unity of the family of our home

To you who have wandered so far away I say cease to roam

Side by side hand in hand let us join our minds to the day

See in the east the rosy rays of dawn God’s answer to what we pray

We are not a colony we are a people proud

We demand our freedom clear and loud

A few greedy men are always a crowd

We are not a colony we are a people proud

Mammy

 Mammy

Mother wasn’t always old

Wide eyed children aglow

How could they know

Unless they are told

Husshhhhhh and listen

To our wisdom

See Momma’s face dark as night

Your skin paler, more white

You see momma was once a slave

She had to behave

Or the mastah would kill

Either way

They say

He would have his will

Victorian queen frigid as snow

It won’t hurt what she don’t know

Besides why would the princess care

If she was aware

The fine Methodist preacher does declare

Africans are animals in despair

So mastah having a little fun

Wouldn’t hurt anyone

And if Mommy would speak

Mastah wouldn’t turn the other cheek

Death on the whipping post

A deed most

Cruel

But to those that rule

At that time

It wasn’t even a crime

So momma didn’t even utter a single breath

For fear of death

She just laid it upon God on high

In a silent cry

Why God, oh why?!!?

The torture and pain

The guilt driving her insane

A dirty feeling never to be clean

His curses cold his compliments obscene

The sick smile upon his lips

The pain between her hips

Dejection

And then rejection

From Momma’s real man

Unable, refusing to understand

Momma did the best she could

See children, from evil came good

Have no fear

Momma loves you dear

Cept every day when she sees your eyes blue

It cuts as if raped anew

But Jesus never done no sin

And look what they did to him

My God, My God why have you forsaken me?

Momma understands that totally

Too well

All the truths of hell

But there’s victory, have no fear

In the one who can hear

Words that have never been uttered

For the heart is discovered

And Momma’s heart is devoted to her children

After all we’re all conceived in sin

He Laid it Down

He Laid it Down

Well if you take a good look

You’ll see a shining light

It’s written in the good book

About a King gentle and contrite

Well he had enormous power

He coulda done as He please

But it was His finest hour

To be crucified on a tree

He laid it down

So others could live

And now I’ve found

I’ve got the will to give

Cause he laid it down

Oh yes I got the will to go out

To speak the truth and defeat doubt

I shall clothe the naked and feed the poor

I’ll serve in no army I’ll fight no war

And in times of sorrow I shall not frown

Cause He laid it down He laid it down

He laid it down

So others could live

And now I’ve found

I’ve got the will to give

Cause he laid it down

With wonderful words he did speak

To love your enemy and turn the cheek

He was tempted but never did sin

He died but death could not hold him

Jesus sits in heaven with a glorious crown

Cause he laid it down he laid it down

He laid it down

So others could live

And now I’ve found

I’ve got the will to give

Cause he laid it down

Well in this world I often suffer defeat

But by God’s grace my hope is complete

It is true I cannot pay salvation’s price

That was done with Jesus’ great sacrifice

Oh yes I’m clean and heaven bound

Cause he laid it down He laid it down

He laid it down

So others could live

And now I’ve found

I’ve got the will to give

Cause he laid it down

Modern Religion

Modern Religion

I always wondered about the Planet of the Apes

I like the Orangutan the best

Civilized yet wild

Erotic ramifications

Bestiality?

Technically it would depend

On your over all philosophy

I'm talking evolution versus creation

Never mind intelligent design for now

However if one accepts the whole premise

It would exclude the rapture

I never read about intelligent primates

Dominating in the Bible

Perhaps that is in some book beyond Revelation

That didn't make the cut

Am I being sacrilegious?

Planet of the Apes offends no more then some sects

While in the Catholic Church the only Bible I read

Was the ten commandments

No false gods

&

No worshipping of idols

I am sure they were in the top three

So we go bow down to a statue of Mary

And light a candle

Now it gets strange

If you want to be perfect go sell all you have and give it to the poor!

Why nobody wants to be perfect!!

Hmm Imagine that!

What if one of those vastly intelligent gorillas

Had a vision of Fatima

And started his own cable T.V. show

Why we could incorporate a popular pass time as well

Bowling for prayers

Where if you get a strike your petitions will get through

Makes you wonder what happens in case of a turkey

I mean a giant intelligent turkey

Leading his people from the lands of America

Denouncing and defeating Thanksgiving

Which by the way is the celebration of genocide

It's getting all too real now isn't it?

Where Is The Parking?

Where Is The Parking?

I couldn’t catch the subway train

Eyes electric lady land vain

I didn’t even have any friends

Besides my Porsche and Mercedes Benz

So I hustled off to Alamo

And snorted a gram of blow

But the CIA was in a little worry

As they fled the scene in diabolical hurry

I saw a spot but it was awful tight

To fit in, to fit in, well I just might

Of course, I didn’t want to scratch the paint

If I did, I’d yell a spell and then faint

There was dog dodo on the ground

My heart in angst began to pound

I pressed the metal to the pedal in backwards cliché

And fled to what was a better day

Yuppies are a thing of the past

And police cruisers ride mighty fast

Chief Conforti is a confidant

Pray tell what more could you want

Another parking deck?

A dismal gigantic metallic wreck

Where is the parking snorted the whore?

What does it matter if there’s nuclear war?

Jenny

 Jenny

Jenny’s seventeen the queen of the scene

She lives in fantasy she wishes for the dream

Jenny’s been to places we’ve never been

Hear her parents as they fight and scream

Jenny Jenny Jenny you’re loved by so many

A quarter for a kiss and a hug for a penny

You are a ripe field in the in the Land of Plenty

Jenny Jenny Jenny you’re loved by so many

God damn child you had have better behave

You’re gonna send your old man to an early grave

He hits the bottle everythings black

Jenny’s on the run never coming back

Jenny Jenny Jenny you’re loved by so many

A quarter for a kiss and a hug for a penny

You are a ripe field in the in the Land of Plenty

Jenny Jenny Jenny you’re loved by so many

The whispers of rumors in the high school hall

Nobody understands cause Jenny had it all

An empty seat like a blessing without grace

They say the police are on the chase

Jenny Jenny Jenny you’re loved by so many

A quarter for a kiss and a hug for a penny

You are a ripe field in the in the Land of Plenty

Jenny Jenny Jenny you’re loved by so many

In the big city the streets ain’t paved with gold

Wondering what to make of all the lies she’s told

She’s meat for a dog and pleasure for a pig

Jenny cries sometimes life is just big

She ain’t got a future nothing to last

Hell is always a gamble the die has been cast

Looking ahead while she’s looking behind

All Jenny wanted was something real kind

Jenny Jenny Jenny you’re loved by so many

A quarter for a kiss and a hug for a penny

You are a ripe field in the in the Land of Plenty

Jenny Jenny Jenny you’re loved by so many

I Hate Hillary And Corporate Democrats

I Hate Hillary And Corporate Democrats

They would like to pretend

That they are your friend

But they are rabid howling dogs

And we are the cool cats

I hate Hillary and corporate Democrats

She is Hitler in high heels

A ‘dead again’ politician

Who in the wickedest of sin

Has crucified all her ideals

All for the mighty dollar

Oh I can hear the witch holler

There is only one simple cure

Do you know what I mean?

Vote Green

Cause when you take a hard look at the facts

The corporate Democrats work for Goldman Sachs

And while I am pointing blame

All the Republicans are the same

War is a business of the cruelest kind

It’ll stab you in the back while they torture the blind

Every bomb is food out of a child’s mouth

Producing death, agonies and refugees

With feigned ignorance confounding doubt

As they ignore our desperate pleas

A war of terror so they proclaim

A weak pretense it is an awful shame

Yes they infest us with innumerable lies

All so digits on the computer will rise

A pale horse has been released from hell’s gate

Our leaders bicker in debate

Soon the moment will be gone

Welcome to center stage

In a fit of furious rage

THE WHORE OF BABYLON

Whose minds are simply mathematical stats

I hate Hillary and corporate Democrats

Cheating In Nevada

 Cheating In Nevada

In Nevada with hot desert sands

There's a law everyone understands

It's an unrighteous, ungodly sin

The house always has to win

Now take heed as I mention

The Democratic convention

When the wheel was still in turn

The delegates came to learn

A premature choice had been made

Despite the people's voices being raised

Yelling, screaming, calling shame

Unfair, injustice, we proclaim

See the establishment, lie, cheat and steal

From the bottom of the deck they deal

And to make all protest cease

They called out the police

What happened to our democracy?

Are we headed towards Nazi Germany?

Now people we got ourselves a mission

A political exhibition

A righteous revolution

A permanent solution

In November express your concern

Vote so all will feel the Bern
