It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on here. It’s been a
long time since I wrote some song lyrics. This gem came around while visiting
my wife Sylvia in the nursing home. She suffers from dementia.
It is my plan to publish another book of song lyrics to
follow up the smashing success of “Without The Music.” I have been thinking of an
appropriate name. Why don’t you suggest a title for my next book of song lyrics
in the comments?
A
Hand To Hold
Sylvia
sits waiting in her chair
And
God is still despite prayer
Yesterday
gone tomorrow unsure
Somehow
I thought there’d be more
I’ve
got a hand to hold
Fire
burns in the cold
A
story to be told
I’ve
got a hand to hold
Old
and gray the hours wasting away
Crosses
are cruel so they say
But
I step out of the flow of time
To
jot down this humble rhyme
I’ve
got a hand to hold
Fire
burns in the cold
A
story to be told
I’ve
got a hand to hold
Sometimes
Sylvia remembers me
Mostly
I’m a mystery
We’re
lost in space where are all the stars?
In
a band playing guitars
I’ve
got a hand to hold
Fire
burns in the cold
A
story to be told
I’ve
got a hand to hold
In
a world of greed we need to comprehend
That
love is the only thing that has no end
Sylvia’s
hand in mine she holds on tight
Love,
friend, companion my sweetest delight
A
sad face stings deep inside my heart
Our
vows to death do us part
True
love it either dies or grows
So
the river gently flows
I’ve
got a hand to hold
Fire
burns in the cold
A
story to be told
I’ve
got a hand to hold
