"A Day's Weather" poetry book by John Kaniecki

Rain

Down the rains came,
Splattering heavenly tears
Mourning over sinful years
Mankind is still the same
Playing the part of the fool
Same today as yesterday
We cannot even obey
The simple Golden Rule

And thus begins an epic poem…

“A Day’s Weather” is my first poetry chapbook. The date on the book I have recorded is January 25, 1991, but I am sure that the writing is older than that. This journey through time shows my mind and my writing when my epic literary journey began.

Refreshing

Hey will you be my friend
We’ll be loyal to the end
We can share our toys
Laughs innocent boys
They are guiltless when they
Forget their father’s way

Colt arise
Open your eyes
Life has just begun
Soon you will run
Nuzzled by mother’s nose
How graceful a horse grows
Walking in but a day
Soon galloping on his way
Gittup, gittup and run
Life has just begun

“A Day’s Weather” explores the world poetically expressing each phase of the weather in poetic form. It is a warm and endearing book. It is ideal for a child approaching their teenage years. It is a great introduction to the world of poetry.

The Rainbow

What could be better than this?
A day filled with overwhelming bliss

Wonders will never cease
How great are my people
Look up in the heavens with a glow
There lies a glorious rainbow
Sevens rays a colored delight
Fills my heart with unending light

In Our Land Of Oz by John Kaniecki

In Our Land of Oz

By John Kaniecki

Tin Man leads Scarecrow
On the Yellow Brick Road
Strolling, rolling always on the go
Dorothy in the sweetness of her teens
Oh if only you could know
What lurks between the obscenes
Tin Man cruel and vile
Scarecrow in constant denial
As the vibrant, virgin whore
Poses for a camera flash
Rolling Stone defines the score
And they pay you off in cash
On the Yellow Brick Road

Tin Man calculates psychological illusion
Scarecrow charges blindly as he pathetically screams
As Dorothy, she softly dreams
For some way out of innocent confusion
And Lions in Masses abound
Quiet as cowardly mice making no sound
As Oz sits upon the throne
And my has apathy grown
And Scarecrow is clinically insane
Intoxicating using anything for the pain
On the Yellow Brick Road

Oz’ voice thunders above the crowd
Who cares what he says it’s plenty loud
Tin Man silently, privately laments
Depraved darkness with vampiric desire
No heart, no soul, to kindle any fire
A strict rule, nobody repents
On the Yellow Brick Road

Ruby Red Slippers click, click, click, three times
If you’re the Law you can commit no crimes
And Chief Joseph laughs in most bitter tears
Oz is far worse than any of his fears
Dorothy lip syncs and gets the lyrics wrong
While Hopi dance singing tomorrow’s song
Ask Langston Hughes when it will explode

On the Yellow Brick Road

Scarecrow song lyric by John Kaniecki

This gem is from an attempt to at a concept album. It got eight song lyrics into it. If you are a musician and would like to collaborate send me a message.

Scarecrow

I was as thin as the wind
My dirty long hair was a sin
The holes in my jeans weren’t style
Still I did my best to smile

Mother was always pushing me out
Another uncle visiting no doubt
An x rated deflated reality
Best to flee to a happy fantasy

I was always on the go
Went by the name scarecrow
I have secrets you don’t know
Please call me scarecrow

It’s a terrible thing to want to die
When like rain endless tears I cry
I would like to ask the Good Lord why
But I hear loud and clear he’s but a lie

I was always on the go
Went by the name scarecrow
I have secrets you don’t know
Please call me scarecrow

Seven years old and the world is black
I’m going to run never coming back
But I know the dangers of the street
What children will do for a bite to eat

I was always on the go
Went by the name scarecrow
I have secrets you don’t know
Please call me scarecrow

I am hollow with a brain of straw
Believing in love was my tragic flaw
I wish I went blind seeing what I saw
You can never leave once you enter the door

I was always on the go
Went by the name scarecrow
I have secrets you don’t know

Please call me scarecrow

"Drone Man" by John Kaniecki

Drone Man

by John Kaniecki

My favorite pit bull Clarence
His savage sharp teeth
Protrudes from his drooling mouth
Mimicking a Lion in starved rage
Carefully, cautiously
We go on a pleasant stroll
Over green hills and through
Valleys of yellow laughing lilies
His studded leather collar sturdy
The short leash tautly secure
We arrive at the Blue Lagoon
Flocks of diverse birds gather
Joyful choirs singing glorious poetic choruses
I flash a picture before Clarence
An image of the suspected target duck
Sketched personally with my presidential pen
I tie a sacred red, white and blue bandana
Over my pit bull’s bulging eyes
Effectively blinding him
I remove all restraints
I issue stern and proper binding orders
“Go and Kill!!!” I bark out
Off he rides into the sunset
Moments later Clarence returns
Colorful feathers fill his obedient mouth
SO NOT SORRY!!!
Our suspected terrorists
Was a family on the way to a wedding!?!
Welcome to the world of collateral damage
Thank Allah it was in Yemen
Cause if that shit happened here

We would Nuke Em.

"Innocent In Jail" by John Kaniecki

Innocent In Jail

by John Kaniecki

I know every crack on the ceiling
I ain't just feeling blue
I am the ocean
I am the sea
I am a man
Longing to be free

The system ain't blind
It was meant to bind

Slavery
Political oppression
That is the lesson
That the darker your skin
The greater your sin
And if you don't wanna serve the man
And you ain't hip to the plan
Then damn
Your soul
They'll prove whose in control

See the country's justice system fail
A common tale

Innocent in jail
